Did you find out your best friend has been having dirty thoughts about you? Did someone cheat you out of something important? Or maybe that person you thought you could depend on your entire life has been planning a betrayal.

All you can hope is you're capable of dealing with the thoughts (and possible feelings) of everyone around you.

It was a horrific vision of inevitable decay, a psychic curse of sorts, for he saw time as it would inevitably effect all things and he saw it accurately, at least assuming nothing happened to change the course of events, but by and large completely useless as it told him, and any who may see into his mind, something he already knew, that all things aged and all things died.]

Charles is a strange, passingly familiar man that he has no inclination to like or respect, as he studies him with narrowed eyes. He thinks about the Brotherhood, in near constant flickers of awareness, so absolute is his lifestyle. ]

If she can hold still while hunting, she can hold still while being hunted.

Which gets a spike of distaste in her thoughts; being hunted is for animals. And she's too clever to be hunted. Don't look up, don't look up, don't look up, don't look up-- She'll have passed by in another thirty seconds, none the wiser, and Katniss won't have to do anything but stay perfectly still. She'll have to deal with the Careers sooner or later, but better to do so when she's more prepared--and who knows how far off the others are? No--ambushing her now would only be a disaster. And--beneath all of that, a smaller thought: she doesn't want to kill anyone if she doesn't have to. Not even the Careers, as much as she dislikes them. Not even this girl--Clove--with her knives and her awful little smile. Not if she doesn't have to. Killing to kill: that's the way the Capitol plays.

[The funny thing about being stuck in scenarios like this is that you really don't realize they're happening when your life is already like that constantly.

If Tyki's mind is a mess, then Nill is used to it, to some degree. Nill's mind, meanwhile, is all sight and feeling, and sound where it matters. Flashes of memory, recognition, bits and pieces of the last time she saw Tyki; the feeling of fingers brushing her wings.

But because Nill doesn't realize anything is going on, she smiles - albeit a bit awkwardly - and lifts a hand to wave lightly in greeting. Well. Hello again, Tyki.]

Dylan had heard fairy stories about the bloom of the spirati blossom bringing people closer together, but he hadn't thought much of it when a grateful trader whom the Andromeda had saved from pirates gave him a seedling as gratitude. He kept it in the quarters, watered it (with Rommie giving helpful instructions from her database about the natural habitat of the spirati), and sure enough months later it spread a few pale pink sweet-smelling blossoms.

What Rommie's databanks didn't mention was that even brief exposure to the pollen induced temporary telepathy. So Dylan was unprepared when he opened his door to Gaheris for their usual Go session.

"Come in, Gaheris. Good to see you."

I hope this time we manage to avoid the talk about Nietzchean sex lives.
