Out of her system, she'd said. Which was for the best, because Jan was hardly Sherlock's type. He made himself slightly more timid and significantly more superficial prior to bedding her again, but it would help with forgetting him, at least. At least Watson didn't seem to mind so much. He had wondered if discovering his dalliances (again) would get a rise out of her. He was surprised that she seemed so indifferent. It was hardly expected.

He hits the pait a few more times with the stick and places it down, heading to the kitchen for some water.

She was fine with it.

Well. Not fine. Sherlock used her friend. Slept with her, twice, just because she was there. Following Joan had brought Jen into his sights, and he took what he wanted. She wasn't surprised. Not really. Sherlock slept with who he wanted to sleep with. Women to him were just a "pillowy end to a physiological release." It meant nothing to him, why should it mean anything to Joan?

That thought stops her. Makes her think deeper. She puts her laptop aside, frowns, hand curled by her mouth.

Sherlock doesn't do things without thinking them out first. No matter what Jen said, Sherlock would not have slept with her if he didn't intend to. And he knew Joan would find out.

"Son of a bitch," she mutters, and gets up. She descends the stairs. He's not on the first floor, so she goes down another flight, finds him in the kitchen.

"You knew you were going to sleep with her," she says, standing at the doorway. "And you knew I would find out. You're trying to get a rise out of me. Why?"

His captain would undoubtedly find out. After all, he was the last one who needed to sign his discharge papers. Spock himself had been the first, showing he understood what he was requesting, Doctor McCoy had been the second stating there was, indeed, a legitimate reason for the dismissal of the Enterprise's first officer. All that was left was Jim's signature. Spock didn't want to leave but he hadn't a choice.

This was been a preemptive strike but... it was better than becoming more attached to his crew mates only to be torn away from them. "Or tearing them apart." Spock thought to himself as he sat at his desk. "It is better this way," the Vulcan continued to try and convince himself, in a mutter this time. "It is for the safety of the crew." And yet that didn't ease the ache.

8. Drunken marriage? Yep. S3 beginning cause I'm so far behind.

[ He's about seventy-five percent sure that the banging sound he can hear is really coming from his head. It's loud and uncontrollable. The last time he checked he didn't leave near any goddamn woodpeckers. Though upon further reflection he does seem to recall the fact that he's not even home. They're not even home. Out. Gone. Vacation. Whatever. It's a celebration of sorts. They won. They're alive. Bo doesn't have mindless sex slaves. They're the champions. That's the tune that Bo is gonna sing to. It's also the tune that Kenzi sold this vacation under. It's a relaxation thing. Kicking back after kicking major ass were her exact words. He should have known they'd wind up in Vegas which is basically the place that never stops serving alcohol even in the morning.

They're hammered by dinner time if he can remember correctly. Drunker than drunk. Drunk enough to be completely obnoxious. Well, Kenzi is obnoxious and Bo kind of just stands there and laughs loudly about it. Kenzi has never been very good about making friends with strangers. It's kind of a miracle sometimes that him and her wound up making this work as well as it did. Though by two in the morning it's probably safe to say they're a little more than friends, but that's just skipping to the end of the story. He doesn't remember the chapel for a minute,but when he does he manages to sit up in the bed. A breeze hits his chest and it becomes incredibly apparent he has no shirt. Not a big deal, but the breeze below leaves him wondering. No pants. ]

Kenzi! [ He hisses, but not too loud. He's pretty sure anything too loud would make his head explode. The banging sound is still there. Loud and incredibly distracting, but he has to focus. He went to a chapel with Kenzi and if the ring on his finger is any indication--he's now married. To her. Shit. ] Kenzi, if you don't wake up I'm gonna smother you with my pillow! [ Fuck this is not what he wanted. He didn't want this. He didn't want any of this. Once he glances at the lump next to him that belongs to her that's when he notices her bare shoulders. He shuts his eyes and prays silently for it to all be one big misunderstanding. He lifts the blanket roughly and there is a whole lot of naked Kenzi under there. ]

Shit. Shit. Get up. Get up right now. Kenzi, put your pants on.

4, Thomas you naughty, naughty boy!

She’d been a wreck all night, and this morning she’d finally composed herself. It wasn’t as if she just accepted things without any form of grace, no but this was distressing. It had all started the night before…

Thomas had been called in for a sudden and unusual meeting at the hospital. It was not horribly odd for him to go in late or on an emergency but usually those situations were not secretive. He’d slipped away with scarcely a word and a kiss to her cheek and all of that following a strange and mysterious phone call.

She didn’t want to think the worst, and she hadn’t really. Martha was too level headed to speculate on wild theories or gossip. But when her husband had not returned until the wee hours of morning and she had finally fallen asleep there was only so much that could be logically explained.

But at the time she didn’t confront him, no, she simply carried on the next day until a phone call from a woman entirely more prone to gossip told her where her husband could be found on his second sudden vanishing in a row, she had to at least follow up.

She had driven herself and had seen Thomas with a very pretty young red head, they were walking and laughing when she spotted them but she dared not get closer to hear. Could he be…she didn’t want to believe it. Her Thomas, he wouldn’t step out on her, would he? Thoughts and images plagued her on the drive home, she had to ask now. No matter how much it hurt she had to know.

When he finally did arrive home she was sitting in the sitting room, legs folded one over the other and a neat cream suit giving her the same icy perfection as her expression. “Hello darling, how was your day?”

The televisions were on, each a different station. A ballroom dancing competition, a perfectly blonde journalist talking about the recent string of children taken from their parents in Europe, an earnest voiceover explaining the makings of concrete, a telenovela in which a handsome dark haired hero with an impressive mustache pleads for the hand of the woman in a plunging dress...

And a familiar pair of legs, thrown casually over the arm of the armchair, equally familiar stiletto heels on her feet. She said nothing, but her very presence spoke more than the combined cacophony of televisions.
