Everyone knows the feeling of when you see someone and you know you've seen them before. Isn't that a part of déjà vu? But what if the connection you have with that person goes beyond the superficial recognition of familiarity? Perhaps you were connected once...in the most intimate of ways. Some religions and philosophies believe in reincarnation of souls, and it's said that souls could be reincarnated together - once again to follow out the same path they did before.
Or maybe not. Maybe it could be a second chance for fixing things that went wrong before, like the a tragedy or circumstances keeping you apart. But can you take that chance? Do you even want to?
HOW TO PLAY- Comment with your character, stating preferences and pertinent information.
- Tag around to others and roll the RNG to determine what your scenario will be.
- The first roll determines the parameters of the "past life," the second the parameters of the "present life." The meme is intended to take place in the present, but there's nothing stopping you from playing out flashbacks to the "past."
- Play out the scene!
- WARNING: There will probably be triggers here.
| | A. THE PAST- Medieval: The two of you lived in the middle ages or an equal high fantasy setting. Kings, queens, knights, wizards, your doomed love was set among the sword and shield.
- Feudal Japan: During this time, honor reigned supreme and warriors lived and died by the sword. Perhaps the two of you lived here?
- War: World War I, World War II, World War...III? Whatever the tension was, the two of you weren't living in happy times.
- Not Human: You were gods, demons, monsters, angels - or at least one of you was.
- Sci-Fi: The two of you found love in a world of science and technology...maybe a base on the moon?
- Taboo: In a past life, the two of you were related, yet still somehow fell in love. Or perhaps there was a big age gap, or different social standings. Whatever it was, your affection was "wrong," somehow.
- Intended for Someone Else: One of you was engaged, intended, or taken by someone else.
- Not Allowed: For some reason, you couldn't have your love back then.
- Tragically Cut Short: Somehow, your love ended in tragedy and one of you died.
- Living Happily Ever After: The two of you grew old together, had a family, the whole shebang, and died of old age. As a reward, you get to be with your loved one again.
- WILDCARD or CHOOSE YOUR OWN
B. THE PRESENT- (Not So) First Meeting: You could swear you've seen this person before...but where?
- Need to Be Near You: You don't know why, but you have to be close to this person, to protect them, to love them.
- Memories: You're having memories of your past life and it's freaking you out.
- The Reveal: Somehow, the truth is revealed to you about who you used to be and what you life was like with this person.
- But I'm Taken: Unfortunately, you've already moved on to someone else who doesn't fit into the picture of your past.
- You Have to Be With Me: You're determined to rejoin with your past lover...even if they're not interested.
- He Doesn't See Me: You're afraid your lover only sees the past "you" and not the you who exists now. Are they in love with a memory?
- Madness Ensues: It's getting hard for you to tell which life is the "real" one, the one you have now or the one in the past. Perhaps you only see one way of release: becoming reincarnated again.
- It All Worked Out: The battles are fought, the war is one. You've earned your happy ending in this life and the two of you can live together.
- WILDCARD or CHOOSE YOUR OWN

Gentleman Ghost | Batman BatB
I am! A-9 and B-1!
Those were the memories of a Lily Tennyson, not of Ariel Rosemallow. A young girl who somehow had the (bad) luck of accompanying her Headmistress to some charity function for the school. They certainly were not in Ariel's mind as she came face to face with someone who should be long dead causing her to shriek and move back. Having 'borrowed' the Soul of Winter from the Headmistress when she wasn't looking, it never occurred to her that wearing the diamond necklace would make her a target for robbery. She certainly didn't know of its rumored magical properties. All she knew, and cared, at the moment was that she's currently staring at a real live ghost and she was all by herself.]
Don't get near me! You'll be i-in big trouble if you do try to do anything! [She hopes someone finds her in the hedge maze soon with how loud she's being. Ariel pulls further away from the threatening figure, feeling a shiver of fear for her and sorrow for him running up her spin-- Wait! Sorrow? Why would she feel sad and for this creepy spirit? ('He would never hurt a soul!')
For a moment she almost could see a face in the place of air, a man in place of a spirit, but it's gone and she's now more focused in putting distance between her and him.]
vintage slang dictionaries are fun.
Buy Lily? Lily he had loved. She had a beauty and grace to her that he had found in no other woman. He had lain with her passionately, and lied to her equally passionately---she would surely spurn him if she knew her adoring knight was what the vulgar classes called a "rank rider".
Eventually his past caught up to him and even a deal with a demon had been unable to save him from the noose. He rose again, even quicker than the Messiah, but was unable to take his body with him. By the time he mastered his ghostly abilities and returned to his beloved Lily he found she had gone to that place he could not follow.
He mourned and moved on. By the time the century turned again the Gentleman Ghost had distinguished himself as a well-known thief and cad far beyond the deeds of Gentleman Jim Craddock and oh how Jim did revel in it. His fondness for the trappings of wealth had now led him to seek out the Soul of Winter, a a necklace known not only for its monetary value but for its occult reputation.
You could buy a lot of antique furniture with such a prize, and he had been wanting to get this new DSL thing installed in the house for quite some time.
That face. He knew that face. Feelings long buried stirred within his rotted heart and he hung in the air staring at her in confusion. Where did he know that face and why did it give him such pause? But never mind it, he was here on business.]
There's no need to fear, Miss. I won't harm you. It's that stone around your neck I'm after.

She has half a mind to to just say yes and give it to the person. So he would be on his way and leave her be but something was stopping her. Despite common sense telling her to unclasp it and toss it his way, her hand continues to hide it from his view.
Like she thought he wouldn't really do that, should do that. That he was better than needing to steal gems and stones no matter their value. Because he had so much more worth than needing to resort to such things. Trying to stare him down, her large blue eyes were wide with obvious apprehension fear and stubbornness.
(In another life they were green. Just as stubborn when she wanted his attentions and wanted him to stay a little bit longer. A few more minutes wouldn't hurt his work for today, would it?)]
No! I won't let you. [She stumbles over her words there but the message is clear. This will not be a simple take-and-run with her in the picture.
Giving a glare she only half-means, she takes another step and tries to recall the path she took to get to the center. In the distance she can hear voices and footsteps. People were calling out for her in response to her early screams but she's too focused on the specter in front of her to alert them of where she is.] This isn't yours. It belongs to the Xi family and means a lot to my teacher. I'm sorry but I can't let you have it.

...what's your name, girl?

So she answers him, tentative and a little unsure of where this is going but what could happen?]
Ariel. My friends call me Ariel Rosemallow. [Because that was the closest thing to the truth she was going to get.] Why do you want to know?
no subject
No, that...that isn't quite right, is it? [He sounds confused and his non-head is tilted slightly to the side. He sees her and then he sees something else behind her skin and he can't get his bearings.] Not a rose, a...
A Lily.

For some reason it's less of a flower to her at the moment. More of a name and a very familiar one at that though she can't understand why that's the case. It makes her forget of the voices getting closer to her. They still far far away from the center of the maze but are finding their way through.]
A-Are you okay? [Against her better judgement she steps forward, feeling some concern for him despite being terrified of him seconds ago. She's still terrified of him... No. That isn't right. She isn't terrified but wary of what he's doing to her head.] I'm sorry, mister, but my name is Ariel. I don't think there's a lady going by that name at this charity.

The voices come closer. They will make a commotion, and while that is no trouble for one such as himself it will disrupt their conversation. Craddock suddenly slips an arm around her waist and shoots upward into the sky, dragging her away with him.]

So sorry for doing this to you. LOL
[Louise didn't know why she was drawn to Captain Renard. He was completely against her type; she never went for men like him in the past. And it surely wasn't just because of his American accent. She'd always been attracted to, well, BAD men---literally bad, or emotionally unavailable, or abusive, or a combination of all three. Renard didn't tick any of those boxes; at least, not that she knew. However, she found herself becoming increasingly consumed with thoughts of him, and wanting to know more about him each time they met. It had her thoroughly confused.]

He senses she's still watching him and he turns to look her right in the face that strange tingle much stronger than before. "What," he asked wanting her to say something before he does.

[She sits down next to Sean.]

"What sort of memory," he asks encouragingly, "good one or a bad one?"
