Fingers already making quick with the button on his pants before they linger down toward the zipper. The last three days she'd been busy in the infirmary, a case of the flu hit the 'dome pretty damn hard and she had been taking care of anybody who stumbled in. Now she had a free moment and she planned to use the time wisely.

[ Having bad days was a constant in Chuck's life because he always felt like the world was watching him, like the weight of the world rested upon his shoulders. He masked his insecurities by exacerbating his masculinity and parading around like an arrogant testosterone machine. He wasn't that at all, of course, because deep down he was just a kid wanting daddy's approval and prove himself to the world. He overcompensated every aspect of him by pretending to be something that he wasn't, puffed his chest with air and walked around like there was a king in his belly. He had to make himself stronger and stone-cold in the public eye.
But behind closed doors, Chuck was none of that. He would strip the heavy gown of the arrogant bastard and lay naked with his own true self. And today had been an especially tiring day, with never-ending sparring sessions or trying to beat Raleigh in every thing he did. He was cranky and exhausted when he plopped down on the bed, throwing his boots across the room and leaving the jacket somewhere on the floor.
There was hardly anything that could make him feel better. ]

[ hardly anything, but striker likes to think she's pretty good at it by now, especially considering how long he's been her pilot.
officially, of course, with the jaegers able to manifest this way, they have their own rooms. striker has never actually used hers-- if she's not in chuck's room, she's in herc's. they're her pilots, after all, and she can be as cuddly as max with the two of them.
when she hears him come in, she leans out of the tiny bathroom as she's taking the tie out of her hair, blinking as she watches his boots sail across the room. well. that's telling, even if his expression wasn't. not a good day, and she can practically feel the unhappiness radiating off him from where she's standing. --she ducks back into the bathroom long enough to set her hair-tie down and throw her dirty clothes in a pile, then exits, practically bouncing onto the bed with him. dressed in boy-shorts, socks, and one of his t-shirts, she presses in close, arms sliding around his neck as she brushes a kiss across his temple. ]
If you frown any harder, love, I'm gonna' feel obligated to go march down in my panties to whoever pissed you off and beat 'em up.

Watching her walk out of the bathroom, he leans against the pillows on the bed. The mere sight of her is enough to make him relax, which is strange. The manifestation of the Jaegers should bother him a little, but they don't and he's perfectly fine with having a very Australian lady with him. Just his type, too.
He forces a small, tight-lipped smile as she bounces next to him. He doesn't push her away as she slips her arms around his neck, but he doesn't engage with one of his around her either, preferring to sit there and let the anger slowly fade away by her energetic presence. ]
I don't need you to fight my battles. [ There's arrogance in his words, but he tries his best to keep his tone even for her and her alone. ] It was just a shit day, that's all.
