SICK DAY MEME
( REQUESTED RE-POST)
( REQUESTED RE-POST)
There's not denying it, you're feeling crap. School, work, a date, tea with nana, mowing the lawns, doing your laundry, that important meeting... you can't make it. You want to stay in bed and maybe you just need a little TLC in the process. What is YOUR reason for that ever-fateful call in sick that every boss just loves to hate? RULES: - Leave a comment with your character's name, fandom, and any preferences you have. - When replying, RNG for a number between 1 and 16. - The number corresponds to the scenario that you will play out in any way you feel the urge. - The poster is the sick person, the tagger is the one taking care of them/keeping them company. - Go from there! |
THE LIST:
1// COLD
It's just a boring old sinus infection and you probably could go in, but you're not because bed is just too nice.
2// FLU
You feel like you're dying and everything aches, but it's not quite serious enough to arrange your own funeral yet.
3// MAN FLU
Doesn't anyone understand how sick and miserable you are?! You can't function! The world is ending! You need cuddles, and hugs, and you can't do ANYTHING by yourself!
4// STOMACH BUG
Uh oh, this is going to get messy...
5// FOOD POISONING
But that meal was sooooooo good. The best you ever had! Why is it betraying you so badly?! Never eating ever again.
6// CONCUSSION
You've been hit in the head and now it feels like it's going to explode. Being horizontal is the best option, and not even in a good way.
7// MONO
Everything hurts, you feel sick, you don't want to move, you don't want to eat, but you're in it for the long haul. Company and maybe some cuddles with chicken soup might be nice.
8// CHICKEN POX OR MEASLES
SPOTS! Spots everywhere! Yes, even there! You look hideous and it itches so damn much. Don't scratch, don't scratch... oh screw it!
9// LARYNGITIS
Your throat hurts so bad and now you can't talk. How are you going to communicate, maybe you need a little bell? Is it bad form to text message someone sitting right in front of you? Who cares, you want chicken soup.
10// HANGOVER
It's still sick, right?
11// BACK PAIN
You don't know what you have done, but you woke up barely able to move. You probably shouldn't have done what you did last night... and you should probably rest it.
12// INCAPACITATING INJURY
You got hurt, you can move much, and you're stuck in bed. Is it a broken bone? Torn groin muscle? Cracked ribs? Whatever it is, the world clearly hates you.
13// POST ROUTINE SURGERY
It was a simple procedure and now you're back home. The only catch is, you can't be alone for 48 hours in case of complications, with the added bonus of it hurts like a bitch.
14// POST MAJOR SURGERY
You're stuck in hospital for a few days and have a gaping surgial wound. There aren't even any hot nurses. Now what?
15// LONG TERM ILLNESS
You've just been diagnosed with a longer-term illness (of your choice). You're feeling poorly and don't want to be alone.
16// ANYTHING GOES
Something not listed here, have a wildcard of your choice! Anything that might lead to a timely sick day.

Akashicchi, I'm sorry! I'm too young and pretty to die today, I've still got a photo shoot with Horikita Mai-san on Wednesday!
[Wailing out an apology in the hopes that Akashi will make his death swift and painless seems like the only option at this point.]
no subject
In the panic he does manage to slip the covers as far down as Kise's torso. It is a small victory but a victory all the same. ]
Calm down. I wasn't trying to kill you, Ryouta. But if you continue on with this childish behavior I might reconsider.
[ Is he joking? Probably. Maybe. Does Akashi even have a sense of humor we just don't know. ]
no subject
If you aren't here to kill me, then why're you here?
no subject
This is the justification Akashi provides himself with. Since there truthfully is no such thing as sentiment. So just for now he'll allow Kise some leeway with the blankets — there remains a hold on his ankle anyways. ]
I came to see your condition with my own eyes. [ The ones that are drilling holes through the blankets fyi. ] — There must have been some progress by now.
[ ...It's all a very mild way of putting "I may or may not have had someone from the second string spying on you a little but in the end decided to see for myself." ]
no subject
I can't get better in a day, you know.
[It wasn't the smartest thing Kise's ever done, considering the whole reason he's been moping in bed in the first place is his legs. He can't quite hide the wince that the kick elicits, and knowing Akashi can see that just makes him slump down a little more. If he was trying to convince Akashi that being creepy and having people spy on him all the time isn't the way to go treating his friends (enemies? frenemies?), then Kise's well aware this was definitely not the way to do it.]
Pretends to know anything about dealing with leg injuries.
[ On top of everything is he required to scold Kise like a child, too?
...But of course as it is to be expected Akashi does observe that wince of discomfort immediately.
Then he does something perhaps not so predictable: Akashi extracts himself from the bed, and therefore Kise, very abruptly. The new objective being the retrieval of the ice pack he had brought in earlier, but in the following struggle now lay abandoned on the floor. Once it is obtained and properly cracked Akashi stretches out his hand as if to command Kise to expose at least one of his legs.
The action speaks to some sort of compassion but the burning look hidden within his eyes commands that he is obeyed without hesitation. ]
I only have your best intentions in mind, Ryouta.
it's not like I'll be able to tell o7
You could have just called if you were worried.

[ Given the way Kaijou's ace was hiding away from the world that much is without a doubt true.
Some old habits actually do die hard. Or he hasn't yet become as polarized as he should be, as he appears. Regardless, it's with a calculated and gentle touch he takes hold of Kise's leg, extends it but a bit further, and places the pack against it.
Although eventually the angle becomes awkward. Rather than asking he simply places his hand behind Kise's knee and pushes up. Awkward maybe for Kise, and there were certainly less invasive ways to achieve the same result — but going another round of convincing Kise is a waste of time. At least this way Akashi no longer runs the chance (although minuscule) of making his own wrist sore.]
no subject
He hadn't thought anyone would actually see him acting like that, after all, and some of the embarrassment of it is what keeps Kise glowering at Akashi over his knee even as he obediently lets Akashi move his leg. His silence takes on a confused sort of quality as Akashi keeps holding the ice pack to his skin; this kind of personal attention is unsettling when it's from Akashi, now that they're at different schools. Eventually, Kise can't stand it anymore, and he ventures a few words more to fill the silence than because he thinks Akashi will actually care about them.]
You still didn't have to go to the trouble of coming all the way here...
no subject
The silence wasn't uncomfortable for him, it might have been preferable even to idle chatter. ]
...That's enough. [ If you mention it enough anything will be become the topic of introspection. ] You're wasting my time by worrying about something that has already taken place.
[ He pauses in his ministrations to peer up at Kise's face pointedly as if to drive home the idea of letting that topic go already. ]
no subject
Then you don't have to stay for long? [Kise says it with a hopeful lilt; if he can convince Akashi to leave now, maybe he can go back to his pity party and forget the whole home invasion ever happened.] I'm fine, really. The doctor okay'd me yesterday.
no subject
[ Something about this exchange puts a small smile on his face. Just as remembered Kise is far too easy for him to predict. They all are but that is not a shocking development. It has become clear that silence will not be his companion today. Accepting this as irrefutable fact Akashi promptly returns to the task at hand. Maybe if he also massages the damaged tissue it'll be coaxed (intimidated) into not being so damaged? What an excellent time to test this theory. ]
Go ahead and voice your feelings more directly.
[ I GIVE YOU PERMISSION to get physically harmed. ]
no subject
I just don't want you going to any more trouble...
[Although, truth be told, it is kind of nice to have someone here fussing over him, albeit in a thoroughly un-comforting manner. Not that Kise thinks his family or friends wouldn't have done it, if he'd given even the slightest sign of wanting them to, but everyone else he can put off with enough emoticon-filled texting or refusing to leave his room. When it's Akashi, Kise knows he has no chance at that. He's getting fussed over whether he wants it or not; Kise still hasn't decided if that's a good or bad thing yet.]
Using this icon in the non-sexy way I swear. shut your face Kise.
I'll leave once I've finished.
[ Finish what exactly is left ambiguous. But it's reassurance that at some point today Akashi will leave. That should be enough to silence Kise's covert concerns unless he's decided today would be an especially good day to be extra difficult to deal with. ]
if only i had a reason to use the judging icon right now
Finished doing what?
[It's not like Akashi's every particularly interested in being forthcoming, but having him here and intruding in his room makes Kise want to be a little difficult as revenge. Too bad that kind of thing just tends to make Kise suffer more when it comes to Akashi, but he just can't help it.]
no subject
[For now Akashi has stopped his administrations entirely. There was something to be said about this situation. It's not quite like any other they've been in before. It's true that injuries during Teikou were certainly not unheard of, however, then again he'd never before provided any of his team-mates with aid out of practice and off of court quite like this. It's surprising in itself that Kise had yet to at least try to take advantage of the moment of sentimentality.
Although really it does suit Akashi best if it's that way. Talking about the past with someone calm and collected like Kuroko was one thing: Kise was an entirely different creature altogether. Still some self indulgence couldn't hurt.]
You've become someone who is able to question my judgment so openly?
[REALL THOUGH KISE you are lucky he's in a nice mood.]
no subject
Then that second part registers, and Kise realizes nope. If he's being praised, it's only for being disobedient.]
Um. It's not like that, Akashicchi—
[Wait. Wait, it is like that, isn't it? Kise's not at Teikou any more. Akashi's no longer his captain. Sure, Kise and the rest of the skittle squad will listen to him, but it's not like it was back in middle school. Isn't it okay to be someone who questions Akashi now? He's not the kind of person who'd let down his team and sit out just because Akashi thought it'd make it too boring a tournament to play.]
—it's just weird, isn't it? I thought you wanted us all to be enemies.
