[ There's an old superstition with origins long-forgotten that proclaims a power in shooting stars. Mostly the fable explains that wishes must be made under the watchful gaze of said spectrum; whether it's your heart's desire or mere fleeting fancy. Yet, not everyone knows that in the older stories of lore, that power of wish-granting lingered on long after such a sight. As if the star itself, some celestial presence full of old magic and wonder, could pass a taste of it's abilities onto the mortals who happened to witness it's splendor.

It's been days since they'd caught sight of the star's fall, walking home together late one night. Haruka doesn't even think much about that otherwise uneventful evening. Not really. As startling and sudden as it'd been recollection of the shooting star had been casually passed over in light of new memories forming every day thereafter.

Except when circumstance and poor planning have them out past Makoto's curfew once more, and he can't help but recall how they'd stood there, awe-struck and stock-still in the middle of the street, as a blaze of light swooped low in the dark sky above. How it had stilled their world. Silenced everything but the unreadable look on Makoto's face.

It's that and not the star itself which sends his eyes skyward, as if to will another into their line of sight. ]
