Have to. Magic is low where I am from and no other way to channel it 'sides conducts.

[He means conduits. The fox slides back into his human form, his eyes holding the slit pupil of the fox for a moment before fading.]

Can smell magic on you, horse-man. Didja make a sorcerer angry?

Call me horse-man again and I'm gonna use my fancy new hooves to make myself a fancy new fox stole.

[He stomps in irritation.]

Name's Dean. And not today, I didn't. I don't know why the hell I'm like this.

Okay. Dean then. [He taps a blunt claw against his chest as he introduces himself.] Garrett.

Doesn't smell too powerful t'me. Good witch can blast that right offa you in a quick minute. 'Course, she might end up blasting you right outta this world and into the next, but... [He shrugs. Yeah, possibly deadly solutions still count as helping, right?]

Dude, don't smell me. That's just creepy.

[His tail switches, arms folded over his own chest.]

Any options other than witches?

Cannot help it. It's like looking with my eyes.

[Garrett knows his staff can dispell magical energies, but he has a feeling Dean won't take too kindly to being smacked over the head with a staff as hard as a diamond. He clicks his claws together slowly as he thinks.]

Could just wait it out. Sometimes, it wears off.

Or you could, you know, use your eyes.

[Yep, getting hit in the head by a magic stick would not have been too appreciated.]

You ever seen anything like this before? Something that'd wear off?

Uh-huh. Usually a spell breaks when the person it's on learns a lesson......or if they get kissed.

[Spells always come with such weird loopholes.]

Older than that. Uh, between fifteen 'n twenty, if counting in years. [Beat.] I think.

[He's giving an honest answer this time. The Clan has no use for ages. All that matters is whether someone is pulling their own weight or not. Garrett only has a loose reference in mind to his age.]

You know there's kinda a big difference between fifteen and twenty, short stack.
