It is often gradual. A creeping, slender thing that you do not notice at first. But soon, you are unable to focus on the things you are used to. Menial tasks you have repeated hundreds, if not thousands of times before remind you of this person. Hours you have come to no longer count suddenly seem endless when they are no longer with you. The hands of the clock are a harsh mistress, reminding you of the time until you meet again.
And when that time comes it is over altogether too quickly.
They become an insistent thought you cannot ignore. You will be engaged in something that requires, demands, your full attention and there they will be. Uninvited, unbidden, and yet not unwelcome. But always unrelenting. Perhaps it is a turn of phrase spoken by another that reminds you. A scent. A sound or a glance. It matters not. You will begin to find them in everything.
They will alter you, even without meaning to. Your hands will know how to find them, even in the dark, when you seek them. Your heart will know how to match the beat of theirs. The sound of their breath is a calming one.
And, strangely above all, you accept this. No matter how illogical or strange it may be. Because your soul tells you it is right.
[ Local man posed difficult question has to think about answer, more at 11. ]
I do think there has to be a basis of friendship anyway for there to be romantic love, so it's those feelings, but just...wholly encompassing, I guess. It's hard to describe, it's just that, but more. Everything feels bigger, it feels like they're all you think about. You feel best when you're around them, you get fucking butterflies when you manage to make them laugh.
It makes you feel more brave than you'd ever be for yourself, because you'd do anything for them. You come second, and you're fine with that, because you want to know that they're okay before you worry about yourself. And that doesn't matter anyway, because ideally, they feel the same way about you.
It's probably different from person to person. For me, though, it doesn't feel very different. I would have died for any one of my friends without a thought. Still would, really, except none of them are in danger. And when they're hurting, I always feel so helpless. It's the same for me and my lover. Her battles are my battles. Her people are mine, too.
We have a lot of sex, of course; that's a big distinction.
[So helpful!] That's not feelings, though, that's action. I think...do you ever pretend to look into the future? Imagine what life will be like for you a few years down the road? When I do that, I can't imagine it without her. My brain just won't accept it.
When we first started courting [inasmuch as you can call it that] I felt jittery and happy, like I'd had too much to drink, and everything beautiful around me felt a little bit more beautiful. That bit doesn't last, the silly giddiness, but the joy does.
Isamu: Romantic love involves intense surges of passion-driving neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine, alongside a temporary shutdown of critical judgment centers in the brain's frontal lobe. Friendship, in contrast, relies more steadily on endorphins and balanced neurotransmitter levels. Minoru: That has got to be the weirdest way anyone's described love. Isamu: Very well, how would you go about explaining what love feels like? Minoru: it's uh... confusing?
It doesn't happen all at once. A lot of times it kind of starts out the same...but then it just kinda...creeps in...and it feels different. It turns into something else. It feels that way to me, anyway.
Like...you start thinking about what they're doing all the time when they aren't around and you miss them more...and more and the way you think about them changes and before you know it...damn, you're in it bad.
Not at all, dear. You do whatever you wish with your lips; they're yours.
There's also no time limit on anything. If you decide to try it for the first time when you're old and grey, there's nothing wrong with that. If you spend the rest of your life never wanting to, and you're happy, you're doing well with the time you've been given.
If it's a genuine prophecy, it's what will happen if you do nothing. And everyone else does nothing. Whether that serves as a warning or not is a matter of interpretation.
But it does come a bit down to whether it comes from an actual oracle or, you know. Just someone with a point of view.
[With his eyes closed, thin brows knitted as if in mortal agony faintly, and fan raised to hide the lower part of his face:]
If you were reading a scene where several characters assumed the child being carried by a man was also born from him, despite that up until this moment there's been no indication in the book that men can give birth, this is pointed out and yet the other characters are insisting they thought it'd be possible because the man's... partner is a demon - is that too much foreshadowing? Would you assume the mpreg would be happening, at some point in the story?
[How blatantly has this particular Chekov's gun been displayed? Is it so far as to not just have been displayed, but waved around while locked and loaded? How many death flags has he unwittingly and unwillingly triggered!?]
[Lucifer hates this question so damn much. Great. NEW FEAR UNLOCKED. He can't have offspring.... OR MAYBE HE CAN WITH PART HUMANS? Aliens? Does this mean Diavolo could be-- No no no he's just going to drink and forget this later.]
Does the demon know he's unwittingly impregnated his partner and have means to remove the child like a C-section?
You ever think that Havik guy has kind of a point? Not the new guy...who, honestly I'm not even sure is Havik. I mean the actual cleric of chaos guy. Remember him? Does anyone know who I'm talking about? I feel like I'm going crazy, sometimes. I don't think that guy was good necessarily...just...everything just feels kind of bonkers sometimes.
[It is probably just someone rewriting the timeline again and someone actually noticed a little.]
Nope, not about horses. It's actually stories with protagonists that are so charismatic they attract a lot of women into their orbit. Well, usually women anyway, there's gay stallion novels too.
