He opens his eyes, sees as she scoops up the clothes from the floor, and frowns with disappointment. ] You have to go?
no subject
Slightly sardonic: ] I don't have to. I choose to.

[ Everything about him slumps, hopeful expression falling into pure disappointment, and he feels slightly used. He had a good night, a great night, but he thought there was something there, one of those connections people always spoke about. But he guesses he was wrong, sighing as he pushes himself up into a sitting position and nods sadly. ]
I, uh, thought I could make breakfast or something, but I guess if you don't want to hang around...

Running a hand through her hair. It's a mess, anyways. She wants— but everything inside her says it's a terrible idea. ] Fuck, you really want me to stay.
[ That's... she doesn't quite know what to do with that. One more reason she should have bolted earlier, or never let this happen in the first place. Taking a deep breath. ] Yeah, all right. Breakfast. [ She can do breakfast. ]

He throws his legs over the edge of the bed, covers himself with the sheets as he reaches for his discarded boxers, pulls them on as he gets up, and starts to gather the rest of his things. ]
I'm not that bad for company, am I? [ He says it teasingly, like he's laughing it off, but he sound unsure, pulling on the rest of his clothes. ] What kinda guy would I be to let you go without at least offering you something to eat?
no subject
A regular guy.

You mean one-night stands. [ A beat. ] I think you just did.

He shuffles to the bedroom door, pulls it open. ] First and last time. There was - it took someone special to - I'm sorry. I'll make breakfast, then you can get going if you want.
no subject
Closing her eyes for a moment, before she can muster up what might pass for a smile. ] So, what's for breakfast.
no subject
I got cereal, toast, eggs, orange juice. What do you fancy?
no subject
The last three sound good.
no subject
[ The first thing he does is set the coffee pot going, clanking around as he grabs a pan for the eggs, sticks some toast in the toaster. He moves gracefully for such a big guy, quick and easy, like a well-oiled machine. ] Make yourself comfortable, it won't be long.

He doesn't want to lie, but he isn't sure if he really wants to tell her that he's Captain America, either, finding someone who doesn't know rare and nice. ] I used to be a soldier.
no subject
[ Biting down on her lower lip before she shrugs— what's the harm, she might never see him again after this breakfast, surely it can't hurt to— ] So did I.
no subject
Then I guess that's something we both got in common. [ The eggs done, he serves them onto two plates, butters the toast, and pours out both orange juice and coffee, sliding it onto the breakfast bar. ] Eat up, it'll do you good, and there's hot water if you need it.
no subject
Thanks. [ Manners winning out over a comment to the effect that she is not a child he needs to mother, far from it. ]
no subject
You're welcome. [ He runs some hot water, leaves the pan to soak, and then joins her, starts eating. ] Name's Steve, not sure we got that far.
