He's got the biggest breakfast he can get with extra waffles that are loaded up with butter and syrup. There's also a big glass of chocolate milk because he's still a kid at heart and hasn't lost his sense of whimsy. ]

[ Johnny arrives and pretends he doesn't see Peter right away (even when he's the one who texted to ask his boyfriend where he is so they could have breakfast together) so he shouldn't be surprised when he does see his babe. People around this particular Denny's begin to murmur with each other, some girls even giving Johnny heart eyes. Par for the course, really. Not surprising.

What surprises him, though, is how banged up Peter looks. Of course, it's not the worst he has seen him, but worried boyfriend's always going to worry. ]

Taggers choice! Juste has a drink and some random half eaten sandwich in front of him. The drink has clearly taken precedence over the meal. He looks tired and a little banged up, possibly just straight out of a fight with some supernatural beastie.]

[ "An immortal walks into Dennis' Tavern" sounds like the opening of a joke. It may as well be, if you asked the aforementioned immortal. Scathach makes no noise as she moves, no idle chatter, not until she takes a seat by Juste at the bar counter and pauses. ]

[Hell Denny's is terrible. From the terrible food to the gross couple in the corner who might or might not be fucking, and Vox News on the TV, it's somewhere that Husk would rather avoid.

However everything back at the Hotel reminds him of Angel at the moment, so here he is, sneaking some whiskey into his coffee and poking rather aimlessly at an omelet. He probably could use some company.]

The empty sugar packets scattered about the table are, perhaps, the context clues as to how what had been a perfectly terrible cup of coffee has transformed into a nightmare concoction that may or may not be developing sentience.

An air bubble rises up from the non-Newtonian fluid. It goes gloop.]

[ He knows you're meant to keep trying to sleep if you can't drift off, or get up and do something for twenty minutes before trying again. Thing is, he doesn't want to try again after the dream he jolted out from.

It's weirdly muggy for the time of year, but he needed air. Needed to walk a while, and that walk and a growling stomach reeled him here. It's bright, smells of salt and fat and sugar. Smells familiar, reassuringly so.

He orders from a passing server, who brings him his coffee soon after. He tries not to catch his reflection in the window, just focuses on the contents of his mug. ]

She looks like she's waiting for someone. She hasn't ordered much of anything yet. Just a cup for hot tea. Which she has already prepared as she likes it.

But her waiting isn't rushed or hurried - you can't hurry the work of God. All things will come to pass in His time.]

It’s the most Diner Aesthetic kind of place you can think of, there’s a bit of a retro feel about it, but it’s still modern enough, too. A sign at the front reads:

There are single-seat tables, duo chairs and table, and booths to choose from, a menu on each table which has exactly the kind of food you might expect at a Waffle House, Denny’s, IHOP and similar.

The guy behind the counter has his long hair pulled up and gives a nod in greeting.] Make yourself at home. We’re used to night owls around here.

Okay…give me two minutes and I’ll have the freshest pot of coffee at the table. The brewer had a bit of a malfunction. Someone overfilled it with ground coffee and it clogged but they have it fixed and fresh coffee is brewing.

Whatever the case, he's made himself comfortable in a booth, textbook open, writing down notes in notebook and incidentally working on eating breakfast from an atrociously large breakfast plate. What else are you going to order at 3 am? Dinner? ]

[ Make that two atrociously large breakfast plates. Sherlock is seated across from James, with several cryptography books open in from of him as he scribbles in his own notebook. The contents are unintelligible of course, which is rather the point. It's 3 in the morning, but he seems wide awake. The joys of being 19.

Sherlock takes a large sip of stale coffee and makes a face before setting it down. ]

Do you think they've made a new pot yet? This is rancid.

Izzy is sitting in a booth, legs stretched out across one of the seats, half eatten plate of pancakes on the table, sipping coffee while she reads a copy of The Amityville Horror, looking over at the door every time the bell above it rings. Her jacket and backpack were on the back half of the table. She doesn't look like she'd care if you joined her, but it also looks like she could be waiting on someone.

[Glory has been trying to find an empty table the last five minutes, but it seems all manner of characters have patronising the establishment tonight. She can't bear to delay eating her own plate of buttery waffles, and runs up to Haru's table to point at the empty seat opposite her.]

I. Robert is still a little drunk after a night out with the team and craving pancakes like nobody's business. He might be dozing off a little in his booth while he waits for his order, head resting on his propped up arm. When his chin slides off his palm, it startles him awake with a sharp breath, and he sits up straighter in the booth, looking around. Hopefully no one saw that.

II. Mecha Man is posted up in a booth at 3 am, absolutely housing a slamburger like he hasn't eaten in days. He's positioned to be able to look out over the whole dining area at a glance, and there is a nasty bruise forming on his cheek, but otherwise he's clearly trying to mind his own business. Very occupied with his burger.

For the love of fucking god do not commit a crime in here, he has had a week and it's only Tuesday, let him eat in peace.

While Flambae is the slightly disheveled that comes with just having been working for a superhero, unlike some people he doesn't have any visible bruises to show for it. Benefit of super physiology. But also - what the fuck Bob Bob, you're supposed to be in a giant mech suit.

Which is why Flambae is even coming in now. Because the team has decided after everything that maybe the dispatcher is the one who needs babysitting after nights he hits the field to make sure he's not going to go all roaring rampage of revenge on whatever is left of the Red Ring.

(They did not include Robert in this discussion or decision.)

Flambae drops into the other side of the booth with a look of mild disdain at the slamburger, sliding the sunglasses up to rest on the top of his head.

"You eat here? Did you not see the health department's rating near the door?"

He still waves a hand to flag down a waitress for a menu of his own.
