ANGST MEME

Sometimes we all want to play some angst and see just how far our characters will fall.

- Post your characters, name and series in the subject along with any preferences.

1. just depressed.

Things are tough, you're feeling worn out, or whatever the case, you're depressed. You need help or someone else thinks you do anyway.

2. abandoned.

You were left behind by everyone you hold dear and now you're forced to see how well they've adjusted, how happy they all are while you're screaming inside.

3. sick.

Cold, flu, or something even worse, all you can do is lay back and let someone take care of you.

4. fight.

You've been fighting nonstop with the other person and it just keep escalating.

5. break up.

You're being broken up with and they won't reconsider... Damn.

6. separated.

For some reason, you've been separated from the other person for a long time.

7. kidnapped.

You've been held captive for how long now? Maybe they've been torturing you even, using your blood to write ransom notes, threatening to cut off fingers to send next, etc. Rescue is on the way though, right?

8. beaten up.

Just because someone didn't like you or maybe they wanted something you had, whatever the case is, you're coming home sporting some nasty wounds and bruises.

9. jealousy.

You just have this undeniable jealousy suddenly and you need to let it out.

10. cheated on.This goes beyond just suspicion and you have full on proof of what your lover has done. How do you handle it?

11. apathetic.

You're not sad, you're not happy, you just... don't feel much anymore. The sparkle of life has gone right out of you and you're just going through the motions now.

12. addicted.

Drugs, alcohol, whatever your drug of choice is, you can't fight the draw and you can't draw yourself out of the hole, but the other person is going to try.

13. bad romance.

You know this isn't good for either of you, but you can't stop now.

14. fear.

Nightmares, the feeling someone is following you, etc. You can't shake the feeling.

15. insanity.

You're seeing things and hearing them, waking up only to realize you've done things you don't remember or you're in a place you weren't before. You're losing it and you don't know what to do.

16. guilt.

It's eating you up inside and you have to tell someone about it now. You want to be punished and you won't take no for an answer.

17. loss

You've lost something dear to you.

18. wild card.

[ He gives her a mock offended look. ]

You mean you don't know that one?

[ He hesitates then shrugs. ] Yes. He had April over for dinner.

[She gives him a mildly amused look. Of course she knows it.]

So I'll be having the sauce.

[ Rick grins a little and nods. ]

You will be having the sauce, and when I say it's worth writing about...it's literally worth writing about.

Then I am looking forward to it.

[She lets them walk for a bit, before turning back to him.]

So how have you been - really.

[ He hesitates, trying to decide how honest he is with her. ]

Making hermits look like socialites.

[ Oh. Now. He can't let it go at that. ]

I've been getting some writing done.

[ Letters to her that he crumples up and throws in the waste basket, scenes were Nikki falls into Rook's arms professing her love, and endings where Rook picks up his journalism career and moves to DC where Nikki is busy becoming an FBI agent. You know, writing that doesn't exactly fit into the book he's supposed to be working on. ]

[Her eyebrows rose a bit at that.]

You never really struck me as a shut-in before.

[ Rick shrugged a little. He's not usually.] Alexis is doing the college thing. Mom is busy. It's a good time to get work done.

[ work that he isn't doing. he's lonely, but he doesn't want to go socialize. He doesn't want to pretend that he's okay and he doesn't want to answer questions about Nikki Heat or the fact that his muse has moved away. ]

[She nods a bit, taking stock of that. She can sense the loneliness in it. Rick doesn't deserve that, even if she may know the reason why, she doesn't know how to fix it.]

Then I guess I should get ready to pre-order my copy.

[ That makes him smile a bit inspite of himself. ]

I have it on good faith that you can get an advanced copy. [ He winks at her in a way that seems a bit like the old Rick. ] Autographed even.

[ They approach the small Italian restaurant and he goes to hold the door open for her. ]

[She makes her way inside ahead of him, waiting just inside the restaurant for the matrie d to seat them.]

Are you this nice to all your fans?

Are you kidding? Why do you think they love me so much?

[ emerging from the back of the restaurant is an Italian woman at least sixty years old. She's plump and just removing an apron. ]

Richard! [ She advances toward him, arms open for a hug. ] I thought you had forgotten about us. You don't stop by, you don't order in. Where have you been keeping yourself? [ She asks the last as she pulls back, hands cupping his face. ] You visit more, yes? [ Her attention turns to Kate. ] And who is the bellamissa you've brought to see us?

[ Rick grins at that. ] This is Kate. Kate, this is Isabel.

[Kate smiles softly at the other woman, before nodding.]

It's nice to meet you, Isabel.

And you as well, Richard has said so many good things about you. [ Isabel clucks at them as she leads them to a table. ] This will do?

[ Rick nods.] This is perfect.

[Isabel smiles and nods. ] I'll send out some wine and some bread, give you a chance to decide what you want.

Thank you.

[for all of it. She watches the woman go with a smile, before picking up her menu.]

How long have you been coming here?

Eight years or so. [ He only glances at the menu. ] The manicotti is to die for, literally if you're living in a Derrick Storm novel. The ravioli is equally as good and you can never go wrong with the classic spaghetti here.

[She nods as she considers the menu, trying to figure out what she's in the mood for.]

Sometimes it's good to stick with the classics.

If you want something non meat, the eggplant parm is one of Alexis' favorites.

[She considers for a moment, before nodding.]

That sounds perfect. I think I'll go with that.

It's a good choice. You've got to have the Tiramusi later. I've had it in Italy and it's not as good there as it is here.

[ Isabel comes over with a bottle of red wine and starts pouring it into the glasses. ] We just got a new case in [ She tells him before setting the bottle on the table. ]

Now what can I get you? [ She looks to Beckett a moment before wagging her fingers at Castle. ] You, I know what you want. [ Then back to Beckett. ] This one, always with the ravioli. He says he'll try something new and then he goes back to the ravioli.

Well, he's a man who knows what he likes.

[Which she always appreciated in her own way. She closes her menu and hands it back to her.]

I'll have the eggplant parm.
