Who can say how Gabreel got wrapped up in a divine war? Demigods from different pantheons at one anothers' throats, fighting with strange powers and holy might. Perhaps Bash had claimed him from another demigod who had captured him first. Perhaps he was a gift for his part in the conflict.

Either way, Gabreel is sitting in the passenger seat of a black hearse with an iron lantern hanging from the rear-view mirror, Bash in the driver's seat. The air inside the car smells like tobacco and coffee and tension.

Gabreel stirred waking slowly, just taking in his surroundings because they were definitely not the same ones where he'd fallen asleep. He made a curious little noise, legs stretching as far as he was able, pushing himself back and upright in the seat, straightening up and finally actually looking at his new companion, making that same curious little sound in his throat, "So how'd you end up saddled with me?"

It was only a little groggy, but clear enough. He'd been passed back and forth and around in circles so many times that he'd lost count and this was far from the first time he'd woken up in someone else's employ than when he'd gone to sleep, but it was definitely the first time that he'd woken up while in motion. That and the face wasn't one he recognized, which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending.

"Saddled?" Bash grimaces slightly at the question, reaching into the center console for a bottle of water to offer Gabreel. "Is that how you think of yourself?"

Like, he is going to get around to answering the question, but there's an importance to understanding Gabreel's mental state, too. The care and keeping of a human is more than food, drink and a place to sleep. If the guy's gotten it into his head that he's the gift at a white elephant exchange that gets passed from hand to hand...well, that kind of sucks, right?
