Hannibal doesn't waste energy on rushing or panicking as very little is able to crack through the shell of his composure. Even as the elevator hums upward, even as the faint metallic tang in the air registers...blood, not yet fully dried...he remains composed. Concern, to Hannibal, doesn't register as urgency, but often presents in a manner that is more predatory and focused.

Matt Murdock does not forget appointments.

Not theirs. That's what prompted Hannibal to seek him out in a morose sort of restlessness he would much rather ignore.

The hallway outside the apartment is quiet, but not empty to Hannibal's senses. There are disturbances...subtle, recent. Footsteps layered over one another. Rubber soles. Leather. One uneven gait that suggests someone left injured...or was dragged. He pauses at the door, fingertips grazing the wood, reading what the eye cannot.

Inside, the Matt's space breathes chaos.

The scent hits him first: iron-rich blood, splintered wood, sweat, adrenaline burned into fabric and drywall. Furniture overturned, a chair leg snapped cleanly. There is a pattern here, not random violence but choreography—multiple attackers, close quarters, efficient brutality. Hannibal steps inside, carefully toeing off his shoes, as though entering a gallery rather than a crime scene.

Matt is here, but he's aware of more than one presence, was aware of the presence of of the insufferable AVTF plaguing the city of New York and peripherally wondering why they would be here.

"Matthew," his voice isn't even a whisper, it's barely a mouthed sound around the other man's name, but if he can hear it, then he will know it's Hannibal. His footfall is almost ghostly over the floor as he skirts around the corner spotting what is almost certainly Matt on the kitchen floor. He makes his way over, still unhurried, still careful, still aware that they are not alone and before he crouches on the floor beside Matt, his hand sweeps the counter for a shard of broken glass.

He tucks it away carefully.

Flattening himself beside Matt he feels out his injuries with deft precision and a delicate hand, dipping down close to his ear for conspiratorial reassurance, "we're not alone, but you're safe...I have to leave you for a moment...just a moment..."
