OPTIONS:

1. Games: From classic ring toss to the shooting gallery, here's your chance to win a prize for yourself or for that special someone. Some say the games at a carnival are rigged, but maybe, just maybe, you'll get lucky!

2. Food and Drink: The sweet smell of funnel cake and the familiar briny aroma of popcorn draw you over to the food and drink tent. There's cotton candy, candied nuts, and cheep booze, all here for your enjoyment.

3. Classic Rides: The carousel, the ferris wheel. All carnivals need these classic rides for kids and adults who aren't looking for the excitement of the faster-paced rides. Snuggle close to your partner and see if you can see your house from the top of the wheel.

4. Something More Exciting: This is for thrill-seekers. Here you'll find the Tilt-a-Whirl, the Gravitron, the Screamin' Swing--all the rides designed to make you lose your lunch. Hope you didn't have too much cotton candy beforehand!

5. Freakshow: Do they really have a bearded lady in that tent? It's time to find out. Buy a ticket and see the greatest oddities the world has to offer.
Hard Mode: one of you actually is the oddity being gawked at by the other. How does that make you feel?

6. Tunnel of Love: Or perhaps tunnel of mild boredom. The red-tinted lights and quasi-romantic music are meant to make this ride a great makeout spot, if the chemistry is there.

7. Hall of Mirrors: You and your partner entered, thinking it would be easy to get out again, but dead ends abound in this wacky mirror-maze, and each mirror seems to show a more and more distorted image of each of you.

8. Fortune Teller: Whether one of the creepy machines or the even creepier women dressed up in a culturally insensitive costume, you cross someone's palms with silver and get your future told. Will it be happiness forever with your partner, or will ill tidings be bound your way?

[See that hard mode prompt about a character being one of the spectacles in the freak show? Angel is being advertised as the Living Dead Man, sitting in a wagon with bars along the side, so people can reach over and feel his undead skin, cold and clammy.]

[Molly's in the midst of a small group of people, but she seems to be the only one not eagerly reaching to touch the man in the wagon.

She waits, her arms crossed, her mouth tugged to one side. She waits for more of the onlookers in front of her to disperse before she finally steps up. She waves from her side of the bars.]

....Hi. I'm Molly. What's your name?

Folks call me Angel.

[The man is neither breathing nor blinking, and when he speaks, his voice is rough and heavy, like the sound of stone grinding on stone.]

[It's unsettling, sure. A bit more than she's used to, as a woman who handles the dead on a daily basis. Maybe it's just the voice that somehow gets beneath her skin, like the stone is on the verge of grinding into her bones]

Angel, h-hello. Do you...like that name?

[She glances around, then drops her voice to a whisper, her face close to the bars.]

Are they treating you right? Do you need help?

[So many questions. It's hard to read flustered into someone who doesn't breathe or blush (and he's not really doing facial expressions, either), but there's a noticeable pause.]

I'm alright. You shouldn't worry about me.

Did they tell you to say that?

[She studies his stony expression intently] Are you really all right?

[He has the advantage in staring contests, his eyes perhaps the brightest part about him.]

I chose to be here. Not much else for someone like me to do, you know?

[She's always found eyes to be the first thing she notices about a person]

I have to imagine that's only because there aren't many like you.

One person it's easy to ignore or disparage, so nothing changes.

Even though you chose this.... i-if you're not happy.... you're allowed to change your mind.

I'm not sure I've ever been happy.

[By this point, some of the other carnival staff seem to have noticed this conversation, and seem to be deciding whether to step in.]

[She can see that time is dwindling. She whispers fiercely] If you want another chance to try? Find me. I'll help however I can.

[She reaches a hand in through the bars ‐ but rather than grabbing him she holds it out as a handshake. Tucked within her fingers is a business card with her name and contact. Her voice returns to a normal tone as she reaches for his hand.]

Pleasure to meet you, Angel.
