Not for the first time Angel is grateful that Valentino's cruelty outweighs his intelligence, perhaps if he'd been a little smarter he wouldn't have let slip that he'd hired some goons to kidnap and torture Husk, but the moth demon hadn't been able to resist bringing it up so he could rub Angel's face in it and see his horrified reaction.

What the Overlord hadn't banked on was Angel's sense of self preservation disappearing entirely at the thought of Husk in danger, or the lengths he'd be willing to go to to save him. It doesn't take much to lure Travis to a bar after his next shoot, ply him with alcohol, get him alone in an alleyway, then put a gun to his head and another to his crotch, threatening to put a bullet in one or both of them if he doesn't tell him all he knows about where Husk's been taken.

Travis doesn't know much, but he does know that Val hired some goons and sent them off to some warehouse near Carmilla's district. There's a bit of grouchy jealousy as he spits out the words, but they're true enough. He hadn't realized that what Val was doing had anything to do with Angel, but now he realizes it's probably that damn cat.

"Good. Now fuck off, an' if ya tell anyone about this I'm sendin' screenshots ta yer wife. Ya know the ones I'm talkin' about."

Angel spits in Travis's face before putting the guns away and stepping back.
"An' that one was fer free, baby."

He then turns and struts away without a second glance, immediately going to the nearest taxi rank and getting a cab to take him to the weapons district.

Once the taxi has sped away Angel starts to explore the area - the place is crawling with crooks, all visibly armed, some transporting product, others dragging body bags into dark buildings. There's a row of warehouses here on the edge of the river, but who knows which one Husk is being kept in...
Angel keeps to the shadows, hunched over, head down, wrapped in a trench coat with the collar up, doing his best not to be recognized. He's naturally stealthy when he wants to be, which works in his favor.

He's just beginning to panic that he might never discover Husk's location in time, but then he catches the hint of a familiar scent on the air and turns to see a Sinner with the features of a honey badger sitting on a crate and counting a stack of cash.
The smell of Valentino's distinctive cigarettes is so strong in the penthouse that it seeps into everything, even his cash, and Angel knows immediately that he's found one of the hired goons.

Angel moves around the side of the building until he's right behind the guy, then grabs him in a headlock and jabs his gun against his temple.
"Hey hot stuff, how about me an' yous have a little chat..."

The honey badger startles, then stares at Angel. "Ain't you Valentino's whore? The fuck are you doing here? I did what he asked, and I'm watchin' the warehouse where that stupid cat's tied up. They're gonna be here any minute to take care of him."

He tries to get free, but the gun has him freaked out.

"Yeah, well I'm here ta make sure yer doin' the job properly. Val sent me ta make sure ya ain't stiffed him," Angel lies without hesitation. "Show me where yer keepin' him so I know ya got the right guy."

"Yeah, sure. Dunno why he cares so much about this guy." The badger leads Angel into the warehouse.

On one wall, with chains on his neck, wrists, and feet is Husk. He has cuts and even a few burns on his body, his hat is missing, and his wings have clearly had feathers pulled out at random places. He's wearing a tattered pair of boxers and nothing else. It's very possible he's been abused in... quite a number of ways.

At the moment, he's either sleeping or passed out on the ground.

Angel's breath catches in horror at the sight of the feline Sinner in such bad shape.

"...Husk..."

He can't risk attracting attention with a gunshot, so turns and in one quick motion drives the butt of his gun into the badger Sinner's head, feeling it crack under the impact, the goon barely having a chance to give a grunt of surprise and pain before he hits the ground and is still, blood pooling beneath his head.

Immediately Angel rushes forward and drops to his knees beside Husk, taking in the damage, then gently cradling his head in his hands.
"Husk?... Hey whiskers, c'mon... wake up... It's okay, I'm here... wake up... please wake up..."

It's a minute before Husk stirs, a long, low moan of pain coming from him. "Legs? That you? What're you doing here?"

He tries to sit up, but he can't, growling to himself. "Ugh. Those thugs really got me good. Didn't even get a chance to fight back." A pause. "'s really you, Legs? 'm not just hallucinating again?"

A tight knot forms in Angel's stomach, grief and guilt and worry all threatening to bubble over completely, but he manages to choke back his emotions and just nods.

"Yeah, it's really me, Whiskers. C'mon, we gotta get ya outta here."

He sets Husk's head gently back down and hurries over to the body of the badger Sinner, rummaging in his pockets until he finds a bunch of keys and returns with them to start trying them in the locks on the chains binding Husk.

"Gonna get ya back ta the hotel, get ya fixed up good as new again, kay?.... Fuck, I'm sorry..."
