The Night Market

Even as the sky gets dark, there's still a lot of lights and life all over this busy street full of people. Vendors and customers from all over come to share and appreciate their creations, taking in this lively atmosphere. Eat, drink, be merry - but watch out for pickpockets and price gouging.

Rules:

1. Comment with your characters. Feel free to specify if they're a vendor/merchant, performer, or someone just here to enjoy the market.
2. What kind of market is it? Street food? Cultural bazaar? Magical creatures behind an illusion?
3. Hang out, meet new people, laugh at the bootleg toys, and stuff your faces with good food and drinks.

Though you may or may not have to deal with her trying to hide her identity and everything under a hoodie and jeans if it's somewhere where everyone knows her. Magical creatures mention just makes me think, that she could be accompanied by a giant blue tiger (and his magpie friend) here, so that's an option anywhere including other kind of markets too... [Where does a Daoine Sidhe go to get a little taste of home without having to go all the way back to Underhill? Why, the Night Market, of course. There are all sorts of things less than (or more than, depending on perspective) human roaming around to bump shoulders with. Perhaps he's glancing at something edible not found in a Starbucks or a supermarket. Or maybe a scent from home he's been craving. Possibly scoping magical medical ingredients. Anything could catch his eye, and he's less likely to wear his glamour when he's among non-humans. His hair and eyes will take on a slightly metallic gleam to them; copper and bronze and gold tones that catch the light and shine. His skin has a golden amber cast to it that glimmers, outright glowing if he's using his powers.

If he's out at a more human market, like a Chinatown bazaar, or something for artists and musicians, he'll be wearing his human glamour, likely just got off a shift at the hospital, and might be wearing scrubs still. It's nice to stop by amid the bustle and remind himself that he's still alive and there are still things to enjoy in this world.]

[She's definitely got a booth set up, Cunning Velociraaptor Designs, which is OOAK fashion pieces (like ponchos that make you look like you're a mushroom, purses that look like a TV dinner and hats made of clear colored vinyl to look like stained glass and the like) and little knickknacks like little hermit crab figurines with human skulls for shells, or snails with all kinds of things for shells, or critters made out of gears and bent utensils and glass beads. She'll also take orders for custom pieces, as well.]

[Sherlock had been tracking down someone for one of his cases. It had led him here - to this market. Unfortunately for Sherlock, a rather perfect place to hide. It wouldn't take much to blend-in or just disappear with a subtle change of disguise. He had done it himself so very often.

But since he was here, there was no sense in returning home. People watching could be quite enjoyable on its own. And well, he had to think about gifts now. For Rosie.

So when he came across Torii's booth, he was so amused, he had to take a closer look. He purses his lips as he takes in the offerings. All of them looked rather too - ingestible.]

[Market night out in the Zones is a whole thing. Has to be after that big ball of radiation we call 'the sun' has gone down just so nobody gets radiation poisoning, and it's way out where they won't get spotted by city drones right away.
It's some combination of swap meet and trunk sale with live music and games of all sorts. People are having a good time, but they're all prepared to scatter or fight at the first sign of an Exterminator or a squad of Dracs.]

Despite his vast library of tomes, the ancient finds himself in need of something new; transcribing the latest scraps of aged vellum parchment has him needing something that he has not read cover to cover and run his fingers across the text until he can recite the words by memory. It is this reason he now wanders the endless stalls of a night market that caters more to the more arcane and scholarly minded.

So intent is he in browsing the tomes that he does not realize the other man reaching for the same volume; only when their hands bump against one another does he break from his reverie.
