Running from a wrongful accusation of murder? Wounded by your archenemy and looking for a place to hide? Need a pilot to go after those drug lords escaping across the border? Don't have time to go through the official channels? Find a hostage! And make them help you.

In this meme, one person desperately needs help. And, in order to get it, they grab another character. Off the street, out of their car, from a restaurant.

PROMPTS: (optional)
1 - MEDICAL ATTENTION.. You're bleeding, in pain and desperate, and you need medical attention. Right now. What will you do? Break into a private practice after hours? Find a darkened house or apartment with a convenient bathroom?
2 - SHELTER. The cops are after you. The temperature is dropping below -20. You're out in the middle of nowhere and you're starving. You don't have any options left - except for this.
3 - TRANSPORTATION. You need to get out of town. Fast. Can't buy a car, can't rent a car, can't take a bus - how do you leave?
4 - PROFESSIONAL SKILLS. You need a doctor. A lawyer. A pilot. A spy. And you know just the one. And you're going to get their help whether they want it or not.
5 - A HOSTAGE. You need a body to threaten. Maybe it's the President's daughter; maybe it's just someone off the street. Either way, it's leverage you're after. Maybe you'll turn them loose once you get to the border.
6 - FINISH THE CRIME. Get the manager who can open the bank vault. Or whatever else you need to commit your act of murder, sabotage and/or thievery.
7 - IT WAS AN ACCIDENT???? Fuck.
8 - CHOOSE YOUR OWN.

[ note: I've only watched S5 of Fargo so far as I'm brand new to the canon. Absolutely the one taking the hostage for a myriad of reasons. Likely it's just wrong place, wrong time — fate is funny like that. Options one, two and three are the most likely candidates, or with a combination of them — a deal gone wrong or a brush with the law that's not worked well in his favour and he needs to lie low in your home or get away using your car, with potential room for being injured into the mix. ]

[ It's early enough no one's out and about just yet. Camille's only companion is her trusty old red Volvo on the long stretch of road leading back to the shitty motel she's been staying at for the past few days. The results yielded from a quick breakfast run to the nearest gas station are scattered in the passenger seat of her car: a couple bags of chips, a pack of mints, a honeybun she's already scarfed down half of, leaving the rest in its crinkly plastic wrapping.

As she drives, she takes a hearty swig from the Evian water bottle she keeps close by — nursing a substance that most certainly is not water. Both front windows are rolled down as she goes, mind not numb enough and hair a whirlwind of messy waves tangled up into themselves by the fresh wind.

She sees someone up ahead, near the line of trees leading into a dark wood.

Curiosity, or maybe boredom, or maybe just her inner journalist constantly observant to the world around it (or is it her inner prey animal with eyes wide open and a nervous heartbeat), leads her vision to flit and stare as she slows the car a little bit to be polite and starts driving past the guy. Hard to discern much except that he's big as fuck and— is that blood? It's difficult to tell from where she's at, maybe it's just her mind, but something about his movements is strange. Why's he out in the middle of nowhere alone?

Camille's not dumb enough not to feel the little voice that says warning and keep driving. No, it's not stupidity that has her slowly drawing the car to a halt, sitting there for a brief moment before she puts the thing in reverse and starts carefully backing it up. She's just... checking. If someone needs help, then she should help them. It's not about being a good person — she missed that boat a long fucking time ago — but about the fact this is the only use she has. (It's about guilt, the way everything is.) It'll probably kill her one day.

There's the sudden, intrusive-thought mental image of a snake hurt and bleeding in the grass, and she's sticking out her hand to try and help it, and the thing lashes out, pierces her skin to the bone. She'll cry, but she won't scream in shock. She knew it was going to happen.]

Hey! [ When the car's backed up enough, she leans and calls from the driver's seat. Led Zeppelin's "In the Evening" pours out the open windows. ] You okay?
