Kiss of the Vampire

Vampires tend to have a lot of sex appeal. It may be because evil is sexy for some, but not all vampires are evil, so maybe it's because they're bad boys or sultry femme fatales. Maybe people just figure hundreds of years of practice at love making makes vampires really, really good at it. On the other hand, the bloodsucking may be a great fetish source, something about a quick sting of pain followed by pleasure.

When a vampire is hungry and isn't quite so decent or hard up as to lower himself to only buying blood at the butcher's or trapping and draining small animals instead, their dietary supplement of preference is human blood. However, vampires can make the experience of being a drink box not just bearable, but pleasurable for the donor.

[It had been weeks before they left Bucky's little sanctuary. Enough time for John to learn what it was to be a vampire. How to feed. How to move. How to not scare the utter shit about the people he cares about.

But it's still hard to keep track of everything. He's a jittery mess as they're finally flying home.]

No sunlight. Remember to breathe. Eat when the others are sleeping. [Quiet reminders to himself as they fly.]

Bucky jostled John's elbow gently with his own, voice low enough that the pilot wouldn't hear and only his fledge would pick up on it -much the same way John's mantra of reminders was- as he said: "Hey, you've got this, and more than that you've got me, which is already a step up from what I had."

A twitch of expression, that almost-smile he often used, "And the sunlight's only for the first few years, you'll get strong enough to withstand it for short periods."

He hesitated, then, only for a moment, before adding, "We only have to keep it secret until you're ready. We won't even have to change the story, shit went sideways, we did what we had to do."

Even with the full ride to art school Steve had managed to get, he still had to work in order to make enough money to survive. He still had to eat, and pay for his meds, and art supplies, and a hundred other things. He'd managed to get a part time job working the late shift at a coffee shop near campus, but it meant a fifteen minute walk back to the dorms at ass-o'clock at night, and while that wasn't bad, it was pretty creepy.

Steve made sure to keep his mace in one hand and his phone in the other, ready to send an emergency text to Sam, his roommate, in case anything happened.

It was quiet tonight. It was usually quiet at this hour, but it had been snowing hard all evening, and there wasn't really anyone out. The snow blanketed the streets, and it was beautiful, but incredibly eerie. Steve bit his lip and hoped tonight's walk would be just as uneventful as most of his others had been.

Bucky was... well, still getting used to being his own person instead of the plaything and attack dog for a particularly insidious coven of vampires, though he'd been mostly free of them -aside from hunting them down when he could- since having slipped his leash sometime in the '60s, back when this particular college had been a little secondary art school instead of the major art school it was now.

He wasn't sure when he'd first noticed Steve, maybe the first time he'd made that walk back from the coffee shop, but he did know that he hadn't actually decided to keep an eye on the blonde until it kept happening. Mostly because Bucky wasn't the only predator in the area, and it wasn't the first time he'd decided a particular student -or other resident- needed his protection, and Steve was definitely more prepared than some of the ones he'd guard-dogged from the shadows.

But on a night like that, anything could happen, and was about to, because someone had been trailing Steve at a reasonable distance since he'd left the coffee shop, and while Bucky could assume they didn't have good intentions, he wasn't going to jump to conclusions just yet. At least not until he heard the quiet, unmistakable, click of a knife, which was when he emerged from a cross-path to fall into step beside Steve, hopefully not suddenly enough to startle him, deliberately making enough noise so that his self-imposed charge could hear him coming, just keeping his voice low, "Not trying to alarm you, but someone's following you. I'm going to take care of it, but I want you to keep walking, no matter what you hear."

Cryptic as hell, certainly, especially when he immediately fell back again, blending into the shadows between lampposts, only to pounce when the would-be mugger moved past him, dragging the man, knife and all, from the path, quickly enough that he didn't get any more than one startled -and quickly cut off- scream out.

[He's not a 'victim' as much as he's a willing snack. He works at a supernatural creature friendly bar, and he's not actively on the menu, but people know who to ask for.]

[There are so many options! Came back as Kas, was already a vampire and landed in Hawkins because Weird Shit Was Happening, didn't come back as Kas but still got vampirized by the bat-bites, and the list goes on.
But he makes a good victim, too, so other variations on how he lived are available!]

This was not Gabreel's first celebrity client, even as a meal ticket. The agency had some kind of arrangement with the local covens meant to keep visiting vampires out of trouble. It didn't always work, of course, but they could at least claim that an attempt had been made, and the fact that it did work more often than it didn't was why the arrangement held.

He'd been a little surprised by the name on the request, partly because it was recognizable to someone who didn't follow any particular sport that closely, but also because of the fact that out of his clients who were athletes -as opposed to actors or musicians or models of some kind- he didn't think any of them were hockey players, and he'd taken time on the way over -as he always did- to consider how vampiric abilities might be a boon or a hindrance in the sport.

He knocked twice on the hotel room door and waited, toying with the end of his braid, a wrist-thick plait swept forward over his shoulder to look as professional and presentable as possible.

[Definitely the vampire. Mouse is a Nosferatu, if you’re WOD-familiar. Not a Cam fan; kinda sect agnostic. (“Anarch…ish. If I have to. Ugh, it’s like voting Dem.”) Like many Nossies, much more loyal to her clan (and her particular small family group/coterie). She’s generally a quippy, sweet, chronically online comics and game geek with zero shame about her looks.

Mouse is ace but isn’t sex-repulsed and is if anything a little tickled to be able to make consenting partners feel good via bite: win win!
However, unless you’re an abuser or child predator she’s not going to prefer you for just snacking on: Mouse is a very premeditated and focused hunter. BUT, she could have gotten caught needing blood unexpectedly for a number of reasons! Anyone who is not on Mouse’s Monster List would have to be fully consenting, that’s all.]
