Good or bad?

Where does your character fall on the spectrum? More specifically, where does your character THINK they fall on the spectrum? After all, everyone thinks they're the hero of their own story.

We as viewers/readers might be able to clearly tell that this unrepentant murderer is the bad guy, but they might not think so. Maybe they think they're justified? On the flip-side, maybe your absolute, hard-working do-gooder still believes they're not doing good enough. It's all about perspective, and how characters view themselves.

The key to my survival often hinges on doing bad things for good reasons. I'm okay with that.
Good or bad is about perspective, in my opinion.
Being good for bad reasons is behaviour I refuse to tolerate.
If someone's truly only good, and I doubt they are, good for them.
If someone's truly only bad, again, I doubt they are. No one can keep up being evil 24/7.
And okay, fair, bad doesn't equal evil, I didn't mean to conflate the two, but that is sort of the vibe of the question, how I see it.
Bad - evil - wrong.
Good - virtuous - right.
Most of the time, that's not how it plays out in real life.
