⚜ The Interuniverse Inn ⚜

It's your friendly local watering hole. Well... maybe not so local. But on a night like tonight, when the weather is terrible, when you really need a drink, the sympathetic ear of a bartender or a place to wait out the storm, you'll find just the place you need.

The Inn is a place at the crossroads of many different worlds, where people from the past, present, future, and the universe next door can gather. There's a crackling fireplace with couches and chairs nearby where patrons tell stories and jokes and warm their bones. The bar is very long, with tall bar stools lining the counter and more taps than you can count at a glance. And if you have a bit too much -- or meet someone you'd like to get to know better -- just head up the stairs, where the inn has rooms to let.


The ambiance is warm and the waitstaff are attentive. Sure, that person sitting next to you might be a little odd compared to what you're used to, but what an excuse to strike up a conversation, right? Take a load off. Quench your thirst. Share your story.
Inspired by Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and the Worlds' End Inn, here's a setting to facilitate all your cross-canon CR, your one-night-stands, and your drinking games. Pick a starter from the list! Tag out! Have fun!

BARTENDING: you're more than a regular, you're the familiar face behind the bar, polishing glasses and lending an ear to the patrons' sob stories. What'll it be?
DRINK SPECIALS: management recommends the Pan-Galactic Gargleblaster, but does not accept any liability if you choose to actually order it.
MAKE A TOAST: raise a glass to something you're celebrating, something you're mourning, or whatever's on your mind. If the spirit moves you, toss your glass in the fireplace! You'll feel better.
STORYTELLING: everyone here has a story to tell, and that storm outside is still going strong. Why not share a tall tale to pass the time?
KARAOKE: don't be fooled by the rustic atmosphere. We've got modern conveniences! Get some liquid courage and give us your go-to karaoke jam.
BAR BRAWL: oops. Someone's had a little too much to drink and is getting a little too loud. Things are getting tense. Are some heads gonna get knocked?
READY TO MINGLE: are you here by yourself? Got a good pick-up line to use? Maybe someone will buy you a drink to get the conversation started.
DRINKING GAMES: Whether it's Flip Cup, Beer Pong, or just a good old shot-for-shot drinking contest, there's no better way to get very smashed and make new friends. Or enemies, if they're sore losers.
BAR GAMES: fancy a game of darts? Maybe you're a pool shark. Or maybe you're a pinball wizard. Or just a wizard, who's cheating at pinball. Rude.

He's been here before, he likes it here, they've got more milkshake flavors than he ever knew existed, and they're all delicious, at least so far. He makes it a point to have at least one new one whenever he ends up here again.

He likes pinball, and most of the other arcade machines, so can probably be found with the games when he's not enjoying the aforementioned milkshake.

He landed here a while ago and hasn't had reason to leave. His skills are useful here, and it's been a while since he needed to use most of his cooking skills, he missed it. Which is probably part of the reason he's still here.

He definitely keeps an eye on most of the bar through the pass-thru though, and has been known to play bouncer on occasion.

If this was a dream it was an amazingly obvious one, for once, which wasn't completely unheard of, but there were a lot of people here, and while a few had turned to look at him when he'd stepped through the door, it wasn't any different than arriving in any other bar, it wasn't the murderous looks of upset Projctions.

Not only that, but the architecture itself seemed pretty solid, no bent physics or Möbius loops, nothing that would make him think this was anything other than reality.

Aside from the variety of patrons, that was.

Adric - The Show With All The Running (Classic Style) - OTA

Adric knew he hadn't always worked at the tavern, but he didn't mind it there, he liked it quite a bit better than the alternative, in fact.

Mostly he bussed tables and refilled condiment caddies, but occasionally, when it was busy, he ran orders to the kitchen as well, which meant he was a fixture of the tavern as much as anyone else was, and was generally easy to find if needed.

What's a small town girl to do when she ends up getting yanked through a crack in the fabric of space and time into a pocket dimension by what she could only describe as a demon, followed by falling out of that pocket dimension into an entirely different one that, apparently, consists entirely of a bar?

Well, with no way to get home, she got a job and is making the best of her situation by waiting tables.

"Hey, think you can get me some hot water and a handful of towels?" Jack's hands are covered in blood, again, but again it isn't his. "Just patched up a couple of idiots who decided knives could settle an argument better than words."

The bar needed someone with medical experience which is probably how he wound up there. At least he'd been carrying his go bag at the time, filled with medical supplies that oddly never seemed to run out.

Maybe it was the bar doing it? He wasn't going to ask.

She startled, just briefly, at the sight of blood, but the explanation and the request caught up before she could react with anything more than a sharp: 'oh!', but rallying at the explanation she actually managed a smile, "I can do you one better and get you an actual sink, here."

She slid her empty tray into the rack before bumping the walk-through on the end of the bar open with her hip, holding it in place for him to pass, gesturing to the staging area beyond, "Hang on, let me get the faucet." She slipped past him to turn the water on so that he wouldn't have to worry about cleaning the handles once he'd finished, "Usually people remember to take that kind of disagreement outside, but we've been busy tonight." This was immediately followed by, "I'm Chrissy, you're a doctor?"

Jasnah doesn't often volunteer stories of her own. Instead, she listens. Intently.

She is particularly drawn to accounts of home: origins, histories, half-remembered mythologies. If she overhears something intriguing, she will intervene without apology — cool fingers at a sleeve, a precise question asked as if it were already owed an answer. And if she notices someone sitting alone, she may sit nearby and offer a single, deceptively simple not-question: ]

It's anyone's guess where the silver-blue-haired, faintly-glowing waitress came from originally, but she's been here for ages now, and she's good at what she does, refills delivered and empty dishes taken away almost unnoticed.

She's always easy to flag down, and sometimes takes a stint behind the bar herself, when it's busy and they need another pair of hands.

The Cat goes where he pleases, and while his advice is generally unsolicited, it's also good more often than it isn't, and he does love a good yarn, both in the story and in the fiber sense, chances are good he's got a Kahlúa and cream -minus the Kahlúa- on hand because he's celebrating.

This little guy absolutely loves the arcade machines, so much so in fact that he's become the unofficial mechanic, if one of them is going wrong, chances are good that he's on hand to fix it right up.

He's also insanely good at repairing small electronics, and while he doesn't have any kind of official shop set up, regulars know how to find him, and that he happily accepts payment in appetizers.

This place wasn't any stranger than any other cantina she'd been in. In fact it was a little less weird than some, and would probably take her a while to notice she wasn't actually in whatever Rim-World watering hole she'd intended to walk into that evening.

Most likely she'll be found at the bar itself, though if there's a sabaac table she could be convinced to play a couple hands.

Even here Gabreel was keeping an eye out for anyone who might need some company, of whatever sort he could provide, and he had quite a range.

He could usually be found in one of the short booths, or over near the fire, and was easy enough to talk into a friendly game or two, either the bar staples or something more modern, he was an easy sell.

While she's reasonably sure this isn't the same location she turned in her job application at, nobody's stopped her from ringing up and serving drinks yet, so she's going to just keep doing that.

Her nametag reads 'Red', though it's anyone's guess as to why, since she's a brunette and not a redhead, but she'll answer to it, and she mixes a mean drink, definitely knows what she's doing.

This is one of those bars that feels familiar even though he's sure he's never been to this specific one before, and if he looks a little surprised to be here enjoying a drink, well that's because he is, but he's happy to chat with just about anybody.

There's one particular speakeasy door downtown that reliably leads here instead of somewhere else, and while it doesn't feel like somebody's Shine, it's still got that edge to it.

Despite that, it's one of the few places she knows is safe, because she can draw the tiles here without causing the power to flicker and without her stutter getting worse, though the predictions are as cryptic as ever, that hasn't changed.

She usually sets up shop in one of the back booths, fortunes read for a drink.

Every once in a while, the back door that usually led out to the alley behind the shop led here instead, and she usually took that as a sign that she'd been working too hard and it was time for a break.

Considering that she'd been running New Year's Trunk Sale Blowout deals all week, it was definitely time for one of those.

She's always got a story to tell, and while she might not look like much, she can, and will, drink any of you sprogs under the table if you try her.

Darcy Flotsam - Vampirates series - OTA

One thing Darcy really likes about this place is that it's virtually always nighttime, which means that she can be a Figure Of Fun at all hours. Something she absolutely lives for, despite the fact that she's not really living these days.

Which is to say she'll take a turn around the karaoke machine, a turn across any kind of dance space that's been set up, and even a turn as live entertainment for a time, on occasions when there's a stage out.

Edwin Payne - Dead Boy Detectives - OTA

He might be here for a case, he might have ended up here by accident like most people. Either he's a ghost and can only be seen by people with some experience with death -or other supernatural beings- or those rules are suspended here and he's trying to get used to being in a crowded place where he's actually visible.

This is not his first time in the bar, though it's been a while since he's seen the place, mostly he's just going to hope that the trouble outside blows over while he's here.

But even if it doesn't, a chance for a breather and some fortifications before walking back out into it isn't something he's going to scoff at.

This was decidedly not the Killjoy underground rave that Doctor D. had been broadcasting about for the past couple days.

But that wasn't going to stop her, it was still people and she needed to stop burying herself in the sand like some kind of sun-addled cultist.

There were people, and not a Drac or a BL/ind affiliate in sight, there were people and even if it wasn't the rave, it was still definitely a party atmosphere, and she was going to enjoy herself.

Sophie is still not entirely sure how she got here, but she's gonna enjoy her time. She has a drink in her hand with something in it she can't quite pronounce but has her giggling at every little thing.

Out of all the places to yeet this woman into, the universe has cruelly chosen this place! Ripe with people to piss off, maybe a fight or two waiting for Peyton, mischief staring ominously from the far end corner or maybe companionship that will make this rowdy woman behave for a little while, listen to a little story or tell one.

Safe to say, she's not gonna get behind the bar to work.
