Grooming is an important part of many species' rituals. It keeps them clean, healthy, and content. And a good bath? It can change the whole tone of a day from terrible to relaxed and blissful. But nudity is sometimes viewed as a weakness - and it is almost always sexualized - so bathing is often kept a private matter. If you do share these moments with someone, they're almost always a significant other or a sexual partner. Like you're doing now. Whether it be after a battle or after sex (or before sex, even), the two of you are going to get clean. Be sure to help each other out with that, won't you? After all, there are places on the back that just can't be reached... [Not that he's particularly adverse to other team members existing in the communal showers at the same time, but it's nice every so often to have a little space to himself. In a private school full of overzealous athletes, specifically that of the male persuasion, things get cramped and a little uncomfortable pretty quickly. Before this, he and Seijuro had shared a bathroom at home for the majority of his upbringing, though he found himself sneaking into his sister's bathroom more often than not for the cleanliness of it. Seijuro wasn't exactly adept at keeping things uncluttered and tidy.]

[This isn't a coincidence that the showers are mostly vacant. The other inevitability of a communal shower is that sometimes age catches up with frequency, and the building's pipes though well maintained, are due for an upgrade. There's exactly one stall in operation currently while the others are being repaired, and Momo's managed to snag one of the earlier bathing times for himself.]

[It's because of the rigid schedule that he's a little surprised when he hears footsteps echoing across the tiles while he's got his head half way under the spray of the warm water. He has to turn and wipe some of the droplets from clinging to his eyelashes and drying out his eyes before he can fully focus on the person standing with towels and supplies clutched in his arms.]

[Oh. Well, that's kind of ironic, isn't it.]

Ai? Oh man, did I take too long? Hold up, lemme just grab my shampoo and I'll be out. Sorry, I must've lost track of time.[He apologizes, immediately assuming that he must have been enjoying the privacy of a room all to himself a little too much. It would figure that Ai would be the only other person with the foresight to sign up early.]

[He did note that Momo left the dorm early, but thought it perhaps had more to do with his hobby and less to do with the infrastructure of their floor's shower room and the impact it has on their schedules. And Ai could have maybe expected one or two people to be in queue - Samezuka was a school of brights, after all - but to find it completely empty sans one Momo makes it a surprise on two accounts.

... He feels a little stupid for the way he smiles, watching Momo brush the droplets away from his eyes. He's noticed the same gesture down at the pool, too. The way Momo so effortlessly drags the side of his palm down the top half of his face. It's cute.

And far too early in the morning to be wrapped up in his complicated sentiments that seem to embolden day after day between him and his roommate, so. He levels Momo with a kind smile, and a gentle shake of his head.]

You don't have to rush, Momo-kun. I think we just had the same idea.

[... And a new one dawns on him. Because yeah, seeing each other in the nude isn't new for them, and it's a rare moment of privacy, and. Maybe Ai's sentimental heart is just a touch too heavy on a Wednesday morning. Rather than step back to give Momo the space to get his things in order, Ai instead rests his hand against the tiled wall, as if indicating he'd like to step in.]

Actually... [... For all his conjured confidence, he still hesitates. So much between them was so new, and Ai's experience with trying was historically bad. But he trusts Momo, so he commits, even if a bit sheepishly,]

Can I come in, too? [No sense in hiding his motive either. It's far from untoward, but Momo all the same won't find excuses about saving water here.] It might be nice.
