For some, life makes a special request: sacrifice for the good of others. The gods are not immune to such requests and though she has only recently come to understand her nature, her duty for the world, Xiao Lanhua realizes she truly has no choice in the matter. How can her life equal the lives of ten thousand? It's not even a question.

But in her relatively short existence as a Fairy, her path has crossed with a remarkable being; one supposedly stitched together from the lives of others. She has been visiting him, slowly, cautiously, peeking at him around corners and bringing him pieces of...life. Of nature. Leaves. Flowers. Things of quiet, simple beauty.

However her time is running short. She can't be shy anymore.

"Can you hear me?" she asks softly in the darkness, the ornaments in her hair jingling as she shifts to get a better look at him, "You can call me Orchid if you like."
