[ perhaps he is just getting old. or, well, old by living god standards. although, by such standards, sotha sil still skews on the side of extremely young. his only (non-tribune) competition is perhaps clavicus vile, but the daedra's age seems to be as fluid as his morality. but that isn't the point. the point is that he is in a denny's at 3am. is this what happened to the dwemer. is this what zero-summing is like. ]

( call it a late dinner or an early breakfast, but it's his first meal in over thirty-six hours. he dips a piece of toast into an egg yolk, almost mechanically, as though his body is on autopilot and this is expected of him. next to him in the booth is a stack of newspapers, some new, some old and faded, but each poured over for something that's only known to him. )

Strangely enough, every other seat in the house is packed, so anyone looking to get a meal may have to share a table with the weird teen who talks like he's right out of a Dashiell Hammett novel. Or wait thirty minutes to get seated elsewhere. ]

[ There's a half-picked at plate of pancakes on the table, but the mug of coffee has had more attention. She's lost in a book, tucked away in a booth out of the way, though still affording her a good view of the door. The knuckles of her right hand look inflamed and sore, and there may or may not be a little blood in her hair, but she doesn't seem bothered by either. ]

[Honestly, the table is mostly covered with books and papers, but there is a chocolate milkshake at her elbow. Most of her attention is focused on several scrawling pages of notes and the apparent cross-references she's making across a handful of open books, with the occasional distracted duck to take a very noisy slurp from her straw, fingers drifting mindlessly to brush her pale hair back behind pointed ears.

Across the table, there's a large cup of coffee and and a small plate of pancakes that look like they've been sitting there waiting for someone else for quite some time. That little set-up she's been very pointedly ignoring.
