Flynn Lives...
Welcome Programs, to the Free Grid!

a Tron-verse meme
Thanks to Kevin Flynn's sacrifice, Sam Flynn's sentimentality, Quorra's memory, and programming help from a handful of others (the younger Flynn determined not to make the same mistakes as the elder)
The Grid has been rebuilt almost from the ground up, and repopulated with some programs he wrote himself, some that were written by Encom colleagues and others still by old CalTech friends (and friends of friends at other universities and think tanks and et cetera)
Some areas are still under construction, more sparsely populated than others, but the city center is thriving, there are The Games (now much less lethal) for the competitive-minded, the End Of Line Club for the partiers and The Archives for those who want to learn (or to impart knowledge) and various other venues (art galleries, shops of every stripe, vehicle mechanics and rentals, even casinos and smaller clubs.) Also the Park and it's resident swarm of Bits, they don't bite, but they might talk you to death.
The Train will get you basically anywhere you need to know, and runs all the time, no need to worry about it being out of service just because it's late. Light cycles are another popular mode of transportation, and the City isn't so big that it can't be walked.
Outside of the City is the Outlands all rugged terrain and cracked vistas. Beyond that is the Sea of Simulation which -now clean and virus-free once more- Sam hopes will begin to spawn ISOs as it once did. Beyond that is The Portal which is the way back to the real world, the realm of the Users.
Sometimes the Portal glitches, it's a known problem, nothing serious, really, just that it occasionally pulls in Programs from other versions of the Grid, other times in the Grid's history. It's a thing, and the new arrivals are generally found within short order and filled in on what's happening. System Monitors and a network of volunteers help with that.
Your character can be a native program, a transplant, even a visiting User, that's up to you. Tag around, get to know each other, have fun and try not to make the place too buggy, nobody wants to deal with that.

She can occasionally be found at the End of Line, or one of the other smaller clubs, and sometimes she takes in the games now that they're less deadly.

They're game trainers, their level of intensity ramping up automatically as their trainees learn and grow, but if someone asks for them to take it easy they definitely will, they do this for the fun of it, not for the competition in and of itself.
Muon | Tronverse OC | OTA
If she's not on a job she's usually in the park or having a friendly arena match, if it's been a good day she's probably celebrating at the End of Line.

( The Creator himself, tooling around this gorgeous (spoilers!) Grid.
He's easy to find: poring over new data streams in the Archives and discussing them with local Programs, strolling the paths of the Park and chatting (more or less) with the Bits, or having a quiet(er) drink in the slow, early hours of the End of Line. )
How's it hangin'?

[Disc Wars: not fun.]
Creator! Oh, I didn’t- [Perlis is just gonna quickly wave a Bit away from her head.]
Things are- things are well. How are you?

"Anyway, brought you something, courtesy of one of the new interns, one of the ones I think is going to make it." She presented the facsimile of a white paper take-out bag, the top folded over twice at opposing angles to make it into a handle, "Breakfast burrito, the foil made it through okay, I haven't checked the contents yet, you wanna help to a QC test?"
Perlis | Tronverse OC | OTA
[She’s likely to be haunting the End of Line Club like a slightly-overly paranoid mother hen, or wandering the Park trying to corral any wayward Bits before they start being a problem.]

For the most part it was junk code, buildings that had fallen, bits and pieces of vehicles that had crashed, sometimes resources like whatever it was that made up the rocks of the Outlands. Those were all excellent pieces to have for helping repair damaged programs. Generally speaking, she could simply re-code damage from their existing code, but not always, sometimes she needed a little something more, which was where Ygor and his scavenging came in
She smiled at his arrival, "Haven't seen you in a while, was starting to think I might have to arrange a search party." She said by way of greeting.
no subject
Ygor scratched the back of his neck absently.
"Ah, yeah. Well, you know. Gotta dig deep into the nooks and crannies to find all the good bits and pieces...but...thank you for that. It is good to see a familiar, friendly face. Did I miss anything?"
no subject
She wasn't sure if he'd been aware of that particular appearance, but given as how buildings -or parts of buildings- seemed to pop up just as frequently as stray programs, it probably wasn't much of a surprise even if he hadn't known.
"What have you got by way of organics? The rock samples you brought last time were really versatile." Some of the most versatile debris he'd brought her yet, in fact, and she knew better than to ask where he'd sourced them.
no subject
He had not heard of that, but as she said, that wasn't a surprise. He'd been digging around and new things dropped constantly.
"I'll have to see if there's anything worth digging up."
Or anyone.
Ygor smiled and rubbed his hands together at her request.
"Oh...oh, you're gonna love this!"
He opened his large bag and practically disappeared into it as he knelt down and began to shuffle through his bag before pulling out a tiny vial with a cotton ball in it that had a dark red blotch on it. Ygor practically beamed through his goggles.
"One of a kind, this one. Genuine User blood...or what's left of it. I swabbed it up myself."
no subject
Something like the vial he'd just presented her with, the explanation enough to make her freeze, just blinking twice and finally shaking her head, "They do a lot of that." She'd patched up a User or two in her time, patch tape worked just as well on them as they did on other Programs, or at least she hadn't had any complaints, "This is a good find, though." Because if she could synthesize tape specifically for Users, it would, theoretically, help more than just the standard stuff.
no subject
After he'd kept what he wanted, of course. That was just the way it worked.
"I figured you could use it. Not like any User would let me within a hundred clicks of them."
Ygor gave a smile and a shrug.
"It is what it is."
They tended not to take kindly to his efforts at procuring limbs and digits.
no subject
Besides that, it wasn't like he didn't know it himself, so there was no reason for her to mention it, instead she just shrugged, "Keep looking, you never know, you might find one that's into the same weird stuff you are, there are a lot of them out there, and more arriving every cycle, same as new Programs and just as varied, maybe even more."
She jostled the vial then, "This will definitely come in handy, though, should be able to spin it up into something universal like I did once I got enough Iso samples."
no subject
"Well, ah...since I am headed that way...is there anything you want me to keep an eye out for."
no subject
The question did catch her a little by surprise, actually having to think that over, "Ah, anything out of the ordinary, obviously, but also if there's any of that crystalline residue anywhere? I've been working on comparing samples from any new structures that have it, and while a good percentage of them do, not all of them do, and I don't have a wide enough sample base to come to any kind of informed conclusions just yet."
The crystals grew on the outsides of the buildings, like some kind of moss, but also inside, in corners, like some kind of fungus, but either way she had something of a collection already.
