The Cheer Up Meme!

Your character is having a bad day (or week, or month, or year, or life). They're in a funk and it's obvious to anyone that comes across them. What's there to do? Why, cheer them up, of course! 

Does your character welcome it? Do they know this strange benefactor trying to make them feel better? Will their efforts work? No matter:

It's time to turn that frown upside down. 

How this works:
→ Leave a comment with the usual information in the subject line: character name, fandom. Any preferences, including what you don't want, should be included as well. For added effect, use their woobie/sadclown/depressed/h+c icons.

[Ilyana who had had tears in her eyes mere moments ago, blinked in surprise at the sudden sweet fruit in her mouth. The eternally hungry girl couldn't help but have a small smile curl her lips up slightly from the frown it had, had earlier. She munched the strawberry, but she still couldn't bring herself to full on cheer up yet, but it was appreciated.]

Thank you... I... that's pretty tasty but, who are you?

Me? I'm a guy who saw someone crying and wanted to help. [Because the reality that 'I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHERE I AM' was likely inappropriate for cheering this girl up.] I don't really know what happened to you, but I can't stand it when other people cry, especially girls. [He's got a bowl of strawberries in his hand, and takes one to offer to you. Take the bowl instead y/n?]

Because hey, food always cheers him up... unless it's grown arms and legs and laser beams, but that's a different story altogether.]

[Ilyana was feeling... really depressed, so it took her a while to even register that she recognized that voice from somewhere. More than that though, she recognized that smell too... She glanced up to see the young man bearing a tray of dozens of sandwiches.]

P-Pit...?

[This kid really was an angel to bring her this much food. Her eyes had gone wide when she'd first seen him, but now she was just positively beaming at him, as if there weren't two things in the world that she wouldn't rather see than Pit carrying a tray off food for her.]

It really is you isn't it?!

[Okay, you deserve a hug right here mister, because even a lot of her closest friends wouldn't bring her a tray of twenty sandwiches. With what little energy the young woman had in her, she barreled into him with the force of an average hug, burying her face in his shoulder. There were still tears streaming down her face, but they were slightly happier tears now.]

Thank you... I... I've just been... a bit too melancholy lately.

In the fl-- Whoa!!

[Before he can finish his sentence, he's being hugged, which-- hey, is almost never a bad thing! Instinctively he noses against the side of Ilyana's head affectionately, unable to properly hug back with his arms full of food.]

Mhm! It seemed like you were really down, so I wanted to do something nice for you!

[ilyana]

[Ilyana wanted to just snuggle right into him then and there, but there was still the matter of sandwiches, and modesty. With a bit of hesitance she did finally stop clinging to him for a moment so that they could set down the tray of food and talk.]

Thank you again... heh... I'll even let you have one.

[She gave him a cheeky little grin, implying that she intended to eat the rest of the tray by herself. Of course, Pit might have thought that was a joke, but then again he might not know the sheer apatite of the bottomless pit known as Ilyana.]

You... you may not know this but I... I sort of broke up with someone a little while ago.

[If there were people that truly judged others by how they ate, Pit wasn't one of them-- heck, he was reputed for being the guy who ate ice cream off the floor because it 'gave him health'. That kind of thing. If Ilyana wants to eat a pile of sandwiches, then good on her!

He listens patiently, though, a soft smile on his face until she mentions the break-up, and his smile drops almost immediately.]

Wh-- wha? No way...! Really?

[ilyana]

[Ilyana nodded solemnly, munching on one of the sandwiches as she sat down, leaning against Pit as she did so.]

Things... just weren't completely working out between us. They were almost never there when I needed them most and... and they were always... sleeping around...

[She said the last part with a definite hint of embarrassment, because she almost felt as though her standards were perhaps a little off if she put up with that kind of thing for so long. Yet... she really had loved them very dearly, which is why it still hurt so badly when she finally ended things.]

They still loved me... and I them... but it just couldn't work out between us.
