caught in the rain
it started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm. time to find cover. nothing much to do but to wait it out.

scenarios listed below for those who want 'em.

i. WHERE;
001 PLAYGROUND - well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of.
004 THE BEACH - not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm.
005 WILD CARD - anyway you want it.

ii. HOW;
001 TREE - not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - most conventional... kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - not permanent, but it'll have to do. good luck.
004 BAG - well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 NONE - you know what. you're a rebel. you don't need cover. screw convention.
006 WILD CARD - that's the way you need it.

iii. WHY;
001 REJECTED - welp. rejection sucks. and no one will see you crying in the rain.
002 WAITING - for the bus? for someone else? for some revelation? what are you waiting for.
003 MELANCHOLY - sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain.
004 HAPPINESS - is everything going your way? are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? just singin. singin' in the rain.
005 ANGER - WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. SCREW YOU TOO RAIN.
006 WILD CARD - anyway you want it.

[ Yes... He didn't have to stay. In fact, he was planning on leaving... But, there was one issue. ]

[Sonic laughed.]

Hey, you don't know that! I could be unpredictable for once and not follow you. Just admit that you're just worried about me.

Think what you want, blue hedgehog. [ Maybe a bit worried. But hell, he's not about to show it. Activating his jet shoes, it didn't take long to arrive at the abandoned building, ducking inside and starting to shake off the rain. ]

[sonicwind]

I will! You know I always do.

[Sonic ran his hand one last time through his headspines before taking off and ending up in that abandoned building per Shadow's request and lead. He was way more soaked than the black hedgehog was, but he didn't seem to mind.]

I guess waitin' here won't be so bad. Heh, and you wonder why I don't end up going home to my own place at this rate.

[ Wringing out some of his spines, Shadow looked to Sonic and turned away again, moving to his own corner and squatting down to better dry off. ]

If you're going to dry off, do it now. I don't want to get soaked again.

[Sonic sighed exasperatedly and exaggeratedly like a little kid having heard the same order at least three times over and already knowing what he was supposed to do. But he grinned afterward since it was all in jest.]

Why were you out in the rain in the first place, huh?

[ Smirks at him, turning round again to look at the blue hedgehog. ]

That's my line. [ There's a smile there, mostly because he feels like being condescending. ] Besides, I don't think that's any of your business.

[sonicwind]

Oh, then it isn't any of your business to come and tell me to get indoors or whatever either.

[Sonic smirked back at Shadow.]

I'm not the one that broke my leg running around in the rain.

[ Huff. ]

You're never gonna let that go, are you? That kinda thing really did or does bother you a lot, huh?

[Sonic's smirk softened just slightly.]

It's not gonna happen now that I'm safe somewhere. You can stop worrying now.

It's unlike you, blue hedgehog. It surprised me, and not in the way I'd imagined.

[ He didn't want to see it happen again. ] You like putting yourself in danger, you enjoy the thrill. It's no wonder that when you receive such an injury over something so avoidable, I become at least somewhat concerned.

[Sonic put a hand on his hip, leaning a bit of his weight on his left leg.]

You just know I wanna see how far I push things. No such thing as limits or borders if I can help it!

You're always the one putting them up though for me, heh.

[ Shadow turns to Sonic fully and begins walking towards him, fists balled. ]

Don't misunderstand me. You breaking the limit fascinates me and by all means, you should continue. [ He stops right in front of the blue hedgehog, his nose inches away from Sonic's. ] But carelessness? You shouldn't have any of that if you want to break limits. Unless you're eager to find out what's on the other side, too.

[Sonic didn't turn away, and he didn't have a reason to. He kept his attention focused solely on Shadow.]

Whatever it is, I can get myself out of it. I don't mind if you worry about me sometimes, but not all the time.

Your worrying makes me think that you don't think I can take care of myself either. C'mon, Shadow, have a little more faith in me.

[ He stares at him a bit longer before turning away, giving a usual 'hmph'. He walks back to his corner, back to drying off. It was a good idea anyway... To back off. He had been too concerned with Sonic lately, maybe for his own selfish reasons. Sonic had earlier joked that he stayed out in the rain or put himself in danger just to see Shadow, and that joke had angered the black hedgehog. He was getting too personal, too deep. Backing out was the only option now. ]

If that is what you wish, then I'll believe you. [ He walks to the door, though it hung open due to damages to the building. ] You can handle yourself here.

[Sonic watched as Shadow walked away from him. He smirked a little.]

It's up to you what you wanna do, heh. Sure, I can handle myself here, it's not a big deal.

But you're the one who gets all lonely and stuff. [Sonic shrugged.] You know where to find me if you're lookin' for me again though.

[ Shadow stopped, visibly irritated by that mention. ]

It was a moment of weakness, uncertainty. It won't happen again, I've changed since then. I won't be bothering you again.
