[ his face contorts with annoyance. huffing, he waves a hand in the air, as if to say, "no." then he ambles across the room, making his way over towards the door because, well, he knows when he's not wanted. perhaps he'll go inflict his company on rebekah for a while. ]

I hope you realize you are the worst big brother ever.

[ naturally, he's over exaggerating, but w/e. he's in a bad mood. ]

[negotiates]

[ So, nope, no reason then. He was just being an ass. Elijah knows better than to take this seriously.

He will therefore remain above this childish bickering, and simply watch Klaus leave. Once he's gone, Elijah can go change his suit, hurrah. Maybe he'll go find out what put his brother in such a mood after that. ]

[ when elijah returns, klaus (randomly) greets his big brother with a look that’s 60% sinister, 40% seductive. look, he’s seven different flavors of fucked up, okay? deal with it. ]

[ One flavour is enough. His brother is in a mood, and Elijah wants to know why. ]

Oh, I'm just peachy, thanks for asking.

[ seriously, klaus? what even are your constant mood swings? ]

You've changed your suit.

[ he notes, smiling widely in approval. ]

[negotiates]

[ Well, if something's bothering him, Klaus will undoubtedly say it. Elijah takes the opportunity to pour himself a glass of blood instead. ]

I'll be going out in a few minutes, so I required a change of clothing.

[ His new suit is a little smarter. Fractionally. There's not a huge amount of difference in Elijah's choice of suits. ]

[ the corners of his mouth downturn in disapproval. ]

Where are you going?

[negotiates]

[ He takes a drink. ]

Paying a visit to a witch.

[ he makes a "hmmm" sounds, then he darts forward, the fluid motion invisible to the human eye, and snatches the glass out of his brother's hand, which causes a little bit of the blood spill out of the glass and on the carpet just in front of his booted feet. ]

And which witch might that be, brother?

[negotiates]

[ Poor manners and messy. Elijah takes a step back so that the blood doesn't stain his shoes. He gives his brother a look. He expects his drink back, please and thank you. ]

Sophie.

[devily]

[ in a burst of temper, klaus hurls the glass across the room. the glass shatters instantly and blood flies everywhere, staining the carpet, the furniture, and the walls. ]

You will not visit with her. [ cue some nostril flaring in 3... 2... ] Do you understand, Elijah? I forbid it.

[negotiates]

[ Elijah... did not expect this level of anger. Something must have happened that he doesn't know about. But he keeps his temper, calmly walking over to pick up the largest piece of broken glass, which he turns between his fingers. ]

She was adamant that I see her, Niklaus. Unless you have good reason to the contrary, I fail to see why I shouldn't.

angry!klaus is the best kind of klaus tbh.

[ the anger he displayed, like, three seconds ago ebbs away and is replaced by... extreme sadness? ]

Alright, fine. You may visit with her. [ wait for it. ] But only if I accompany you.

[negotiates]

[ Sigh. He thinks about it. "Will you promise to behave, Niklaus?" "Promise you'll be reasonable, Niklaus." "Tell me you won't lose your temper and eat her on a whim?" There's a reason Sophie wanted to negotiate with him and not with Klaus. He's certain that she won't want Klaus there.

Still... ]

I suppose, brother. Although she may not like it.

[ with an exasperated sigh: ]

I couldn't give a rat's arse about what she does or does not like.

[negotiates]

But Hayley's life may depend on it.

[ It's a stern reminder. The witches made themselves clear when it came to Hayley's welfare. He made his position clear too, but there is no point in jeopardizing that. ]

The witches are our partners. If you come with me, we must talk to Sophie as partners. Didn't you want to find out how Marcel is controlling all the witches in the city? I think she may have answers.

[ lbr klaus dun cur about hayley. sure, having an heir is a neat idea, but klaus is not cut out for fartherhood. doesn't have the right temperament for it. the only thing he (genuinely) cares about is his family, not that he would ever admit that out loud, of course. ]

I give you my word we will talk to her as partners. [ he pauses, then adds: ] As brothers.

[negotiates]

[ Elijah is going to keep trying to make him care. It might be a losing battle, but he won't give up all the same. ]

Agreed, brother.

[ It's as good as he'll get, Elijah knows that. And this is what he wants, after all. To be brothers again. Working together. He gestures for Klaus to go first. ]

[ he nods, expression softening. ]

We shall.

[ he tweaks the collar of his soft black jacket, then he strides out house. once he's outside he stops moving because, well, he doesn't actually know where they're headed. hopefully not the cemetery again. ]

[negotiates]

[ Elijah picks up the pace when Klaus stops, leading the way. Don't worry, they're not going to the cemetery again. They're meeting at a coffee shop - much more civilised.

After that... who knows. He doesn't know what Sophie has to tell him. ]
