Your day has just taken a definite turn for the worse. There you were, minding your own business, exploring a cave system or wandering through a structurally unsound building or whatever it is you do for fun (hey, no judgement here), when by sabotage or natural disaster or plain old fashioned bad luck, suddenly it's collapsing all around you.

Tough break.


1. H/C options

1. Claustrophobia. Some people don't do too well with tight spaces, particularly when the way out just disappeared in a cloud of dust and rubble. Hopefully whoever's down there with you can help keep you calm.
2. Injury. Broken bones and blunt force trauma, oh my! Turns out collapsing chunks of ceiling are bad for the health. Who saw that coming.
3. BONUS ROUND: HEAD INJURY. Who am I, where am I, where the hell did this headache come from? Whether they've got a concussion or full-on plot-convenient amnesia, there's one thing to remember - keep them talking, and don't let them fall asleep.
4. BONUS ROUND: HYPOTHERMIA. Because it's not a H/C options section without the classic huddling-for-warmth trope.
5. Mission Failed. Well you may be in one piece, but whatever you were trying to achieve before you got trapped? Doomed. As long as you're going nowhere, might as well dwell on the consequences of your failure.

2. ACTION options

1. We need to go deeper. The way you came in is gone? Well that only leaves you one option. Better keep exploring, and hope there's a back way out everyone just forgot to mention...
2. BONUS ROUND: Shit, too deep. What do you mean you forgot to mark the way you came as you passed? You're lost? Well shit.
3. We're not alone in here... You hear that? Footsteps just a little too out-of-sync with your own, and-- was that a whisper of a breeze or something breathing...?
4. Dig for freedom! Wait for rescue? Pah! We don't need no stinkin' rescue. You can dig your own way out thank-you-very-much.
5. The next round. Whatever just brought everything crashing down round you? Whether it was explosion or earthquake, there's another one coming - you may have survived last time, but better get the hell out before round two or you might not be so lucky.
6. The show must go on. You're in one piece, so whatever you were trying to achieve before you got trapped? You're going to damn well achieve it, come hell or high water.

[Waking, for Frank, often feels like friendly-fire.

Usually, though, it's a gun being put to the head of his (dead) wife prompting consciousness, not a massive pile of rubble dropping onto his outstretched leg. His waking yell echoes off the bombshell of the surroundings - an entire building, reduced to rubble in the flash of meta-powered eyes and willpower. The pain is enough to temporarily blot out memories of partners, or at least allies, abilities rallied around something they were sorely unequipped to take on.

Frank groans, his cheek hitting dirt as nerves determined not to die flare. His fingers grab his thigh as if that would do anything. He knows better but it's hard to get his mind around the sound of collapse, layers of construction an avalanche that no normal human could be expected to survive.

Hard breath puffs small curls of dust up in front of him as his eyes search for anything he can use other than his belt, which would just be a tourniquet on the inevitable. There are corpses, and--

( SO she has a canon history of being trapped underground in an enclosed space, and with that, I'd like her to freak out a little if she experiences that again. Like, not to the point of being non-functional, but still Not Okay. Sure let's explore some structural damage.

Being stuck in a new world with no way home? Frustrating. At least magic exists in this one, but that means time is needed to feel it out and reach some sort of equilibrium, and that's even even before talking about finding potential ways back.

Can he die here? No idea. Probably hard still, but one can always be surprised at what they can live through.

To the public, Mister Gold is a reclusive sort that is based in an odd little antique shop in a tucked away corner of Metropolis, registered as able to provide legal advice and services if sought, especially on contract disputes, and he already has a reputation for being intimidating enough that clients do not tend to have to take their issues in front of a judge. Shrewd, brooking very little in the way of argument and nonsense, and probably one of the last people expected to be found in the basement of this particular building, on the day when hard knocks from recent metahuman activity finally took their collective toll.

Bad timing on his part, or potentially good, because the sealed box that had been hidden down here would have been lost, likely forever, once the building got it in its head to collapse. And he has never been one to walk away from payment for a very fair trade. A favor rendered, for a relic -- one that will either be one step closer to him getting back to the right world, or it would change hands again later for something that can.

Just before, he thought very wryly that this did not feel like the best day to test himself, see exactly how much of his undying traits came with him, but once the world started crashing around him, it was clear he wasn't exactly getting a choice any longer.

Imagine his surprise when the world doesn't end. Not because he got a definitive answer, but because, as activating the light on the phone he hates using would tell him, a person-sized and shaped anomaly has decided to interrupt.

(Not even necessarily an anomaly; he reads the paper. Would be foolish of him not to.)

Not that he isn't grateful.

Gold coughs, checking the box is unharmed before tucking it under one arm, using the other and his cane to try to lever himself to his feet.

At some point, he hit his head. If a wound opened, it's already closed. There won't even be a bruise in a day, but that doesn't mean he doesn't feel it now.

A groan.
