temporal misfire 😌 babiest.
YESSSS
You've reached Narek, not the Admiral. Who is this?
two gunbee emotes but pointing at each other
I am Spock. I was unaware he was in acquaintance with anyone named Narek.
help
Is this some form of protest because I said that Romulan neurosurgeons are better than Vulcans? It’s too late to be annoyed that he married me now.
lmaooo
I have seen no evidence to support either side of that argument.
More importantly, he has not married anyone else. I would know.
[ he's in his head EVERY DAY. ]
no subject
he hesitates, then switches to his last conversation with spock and fires off a message, something inane that receives a typically sarcastic response.
hm.
on an instinct, he goes through his PADD and selects an image of he and jim, taken by leonard at a recent dinner. leonard caught them post-kiss, narek's fingers on his husband's jaw, jim smiling. then he sends it to this maybe-spock. ]
no subject
then the picture arrives and for several long, long moments, the only message is: ]
Fascinating.
[ based on how his husband happened upon this place and time it's not unfathomable that further differing timelines exist, though this is much, much different than anticipated.
spock carefully picks his own holopic and sends it, also taken by leonard, which spock had thought oddly charming: jim and himself at a similar dinner, together with several others at a table. his jim looks more world-weary than narek's despite being of a similar age, with darker hair, but still definitely jim kirk. spock is also undeniably spock despite the difference in frame, there's no one else it could be sitting next to him, hand resting atop (not beneath) his between their place settings. it looks like an animated conversation is happening: jim is smiling, gaze carding toward spock, and spock is leaning forward slightly in his chair in the middle of whatever he's saying.
however, there are also a couple of other differences from narek's spock: the rank on his dress uniform is different, and he appears to be about thirty years younger. around narek's age, actually. (maybe a little younger. hard to tell with vulcans.) ]

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting to get a message from another reality today.
no subject
I was not expecting it either. It has been some time since I have experienced a new temporal anomaly.
[ speaking of— ]
Under what circumstances did you meet your husband? I am curious about similarities and differences in experience.
no subject
[ there's a part of him that is naturally reluctant to give information away, especially when he can't thoroughly investigate this situation--and perhaps more especially simply because he's romulan--but it's not as if people don't know how he and james met. it's not a secret anymore, even if they don't usually give the details. ]
I'm Romulan. I suppose you might have already inferred that. We met on Romulus. I was assigned as his bodyguard during a diplomatic mission.
How did you meet yours? You're much younger than he is. The Spock that I know is older than James.
no subject
[ as his answer to the anomaly, of course. then he continues: ]
Indeed, your ancestry is part of my curiosity. A diplomatic mission to Romulus would not be possible for my reality at this time.
He was part of administration when I was in Starfleet Academy. Due to his rank and unique circumstances, it was deemed the best solution.
[ part of administration. right. unique circumstances, aka they couldn't really let him out anywhere while there was a teenage jim kirk running around.
and he shouldn't. he really shouldn't. but all spocks are meddlers and this one is too young to really rein himself in. ]
The Spock of your reality is well?
no subject
It's unlikely that it would have been possible in mine without interference from another reality first.
[ ... james getting involved with a student or ex-student, though.. kind of hilarious, honestly. he can't wait to tell his own.
the question earns a thoughtful pause. he's asking that for a reason, then. ] They're both fine. [ that probably explains some thing, huh? ]
no subject
[ one reality on top of another on top of another is even more fascinating, frankly.
he has many questions, all ready to be rapid-fire sent, especially since narek actually seems at least slightly forthcoming, but the next message startles him. ]
"Fine" is not an adequate description for either physical or mental wellness, but as you are not Jim and have no reason to obfuscate in regards to illness or injury, I will accept it as a colloquial term for general wellness.
[ ... ]
Both? Then it is myself who was temporally misplaced in your reality.
no subject
And you're definitely Spock. [ his own spock has said the exact same thing many times. ]
The ambassador was attempting to help Romulus at the time, in fact. How was your James displaced? He's human, it would have been far too early for the event that sent the ambassador back in time.
no subject
I am, as I communicated.
[ so it really is a different timeline then, that the other spock is from. old enough that jim would not have been alive? the spock who died had been only a few years older than jim when he did. but that means this one, the ambassador, is different. has to be. ]
We are unsure what caused the initial displacement. How old is Ambassador Spock, and what was the event?
no subject
I'm not sure of the Ambassador's exact age, but he's quite elderly now, just shy of two centuries. He's in surprisingly good health, considering.
The event was apparently complications during the Romulan supernova in his original timeline.
[ there are definitely temporal rules he's breaking, but he doesn't give a fuck. forewarned is forearmed, maybe this spock can keep it from happening or at least evacuate more romulans in his reality. ]
no subject
I am gratified by his good health.
[ how does this work... does he tell jim about his much elder alternate? would it harm more than it would help? he has to set this thought process aside for later when he has time to sort through it all and keep his husband's emotional state in mind.
so now, instead, he focuses on: ]
Please elaborate on this supernova as you are able.
[ spock has already broken so many temporal rules that the number of shits he gives is in the negative. he'll meddle all he likes, frankly, though he does take care in delicate situations.
this, however, does seem like big enough of a deal to really dig into it. ]
no subject
I'll send you what I have.
From the looks of it, it's a problem you have a century to work on. Hopefully you find a better solution than the ambassador did. [ since.. to be fair, the ambassador didn't have that much time to develop one. ]
I'll also send you a list of problems within the empire and the federation that you may want to look into, for the sake of peace and cooperation between our peoples.
Obviously, there's no guarantee that they're also problems in your reality, but it might be worth the investigation regardless.
no subject
[ it's endlessly frustrating to not know. spock hates not knowing things. there are options, and a lot of them, and it burns to not have that information. better, right now, to have information he can do something about. ]
Your assistance is appreciated. Despite the current state of political affairs between our peoples, preservation of life is far more important, and being able to improve relations will help immensely.
Peace is, as always, preferable to the alternative. Even should the issues you relay not directly match this reality, it will give a starting point to adapt from.
