I've got a.....condition. It makes me seek out connections with people but it means I can't really reciprocate when people love me.

So isn't it a relief to know there's no way they actually love you? You can just fuck around with each other until you get tired of it and kill them or whatever happens.

Is that what you do? Kill people when you're tired of them?

[There's no judgment in Dex's voice, just curiosity. It's been a while since he's met anyone who has a mind even remotely like his own.]

[ He just shrugs. ]

Depends on why I'm tired of them. But I was just assuming since you said people who care about you end up dying.

[ Depending on point of view, of course, but that's been made clear. ]

[Dex ticks off on his fingers everything that killed those he loved over the years.]

Car crash. Freak accident. Cancer. Shot through the head.

[And weirdly enough the only one he was directly responsible for was that "freak accident." Everything else had honestly been just the worst sort of luck imaginable.]

And you had nothing to do with any of that? Sounds like fate trying to tell you when it's time to move on or something. [ He chuckles as he points that out. It's funny. ] I'm back to thinking you should just be relieved.

You know, you're possibly only the third person in the world I've ever met who is a more terrible person than me.

[And the first two were married to each other.]

[ Look at that adorable face. But look quickly, because it only lasts a second before he's already annoyed with it. ]

Well, I say it. And I couldn't really care less what anyone else thinks.

What you look like is someone who needs to have their teeth knocked out and nose broken.

[And he's fast reaching the point where he's going to want to be the one to do it.]

[ That one puts a genuine smile on his face. ]

Yeah, I've heard that before too. But I do try my best to keep the meal ticket safe.

[Because Dex is scooping a handful of gravel off the ground. Such small projectiles might seem laughable in terms of how much damage they can do....until he actually starts throwing them with deadly accuracy and force only second to that of bullets being fired.]

[ If he wasn't good at dodging, he'd be terrible at his job. Dito doesn't generally like to fight. He likes to break and kill. He likes to hear the screams and see the blood, and there just isn't nearly enough of that in a one-on-one.

Not to mention... the meal ticket.

So his first instinct is to cover his face and draw his thin, swordlike spear, swinging it deliberately as he looks for a place to hide. He is a magical being, reinforced with the power of what people call a goddess... but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt when he gets hit. ]

You can't just take my word for it!?

[Sorry not sorry Dito. The dark thing inside Dex's mind that screeches at him loudly to hurt people and claws away at the inside of his mind painfully until he does so is in full force right now, telling him this guy needs to feel pain before he's done with him.

He continues throwing his projectiles with the deadliest accuracy imaginable, aiming for all different parts of Dito's body, but mostly for his face after what he'd said.]

You're gonna look real funny trying to eat corn on the cob with no fucking teeth!

[ Usually when this kind of thing happens, Dito can at least pinpoint what he probably said or did to deserve it. Because it does happen. And he so often does deserve it. But at the moment, he's actually perplexed. Not upset, or bothered, or even angry. He's just sort of trying to figure out where this even came from as he swings and ducks, deciding on some kind of plan.

Does he lunge in close for a stab? Well, it's that or keep getting hit with rocks until he can't move. So that's what he goes for, still doing his best to protect his face. ]

Not like that can't be fixed, idiot.

[Dex retreats back when Dito lunges towards him. He always works best at a distance, so Dex seeks to keep the advantage of having some space between them. Anything on the ground that has any sort of heft to it is picked up and thrown at him.

Then a decidedly evil glint comes into Dex's eyes/]

Can you fix your eyes if they get taken out too?

[He aims for those now, hoping to get him to scream if he hits one of them dead on.]

[ Well, Dito's weapon of choice is that spear, so he has to keep trying to close the distance, though he loses some of his proximity as he ends up actually having to jump aside suddenly. Still, he doesn't stop making his attempt to close in despite the small scratches and wounds he's picking up. ]

If I could gouge my eyes out for good, I would've done it ages ago.

[ The faces he makes due to the pain don't exactly match the weariness of his voice, but he knows it's not any lasting damage and if he hadn't been reinforced enough to last, what kind of Disciple would he be? Getting sweaty from all of the moving around is starting to be a problem, though. This is why he doesn't like to fight. ]

Guess I'll be doing you a favor then!

[Dex is still mad as hell and it's going to take a while for that temper of his to cool off. Granted, most of the time most people survive long enough for him to wear himself out trying to kill them, so Dito will probably make it out of this encounter way better than most people who end up going against Dex.]
