Sometimes, all you need is a brief retreat from the rest of the world. A place filled with the soothing scent of flowers and the gentle touch of the passing breeze. Might be real nice to just lie down in the grass and relax for a bit...

1) RELAXING.
A garden's a good a place as any to read a book in peace or get an impromptu nap, right? The sun is out, it's nice and warm, and—well, now you can just close your eyes for a spell and bask in the warmth as you drift off to sleep.

2) OUTING.
You've come here to look at the flowers with friends, or you thought it might be a nice place to bring a date. Settle down for a picnic, or have a nice, scenic stroll.

3) EVENT.
You've been trapped mingling with other guests or foreign dignitaries or greasy bigwigs or just about anyone else you might find in a stuffy banquet, so it's time to escape into the garden of the venue for some air. There could be others trying to catch a break just like you are. Just be careful not to overhear anything you shouldn't be listening to.

4) ASSIGNMENT.
You've come here for a reason. There's a target you've been assigned to tail or neutralize, or something valuable you have to pilfer from an estate. Infiltrating through the garden seems like your best bet for remaining undetected. If you're lucky, everything will go as planned. And if not, have fun getting away unscathed.

5) GARDEN WORK.
You've been tasked with fixing up the garden in some way, whether it means planting new things or tending to what's already there. Are you slacking off on your duties or hard at work?

6) TRAGEDY.
The garden is merely the stage for a disaster. The birds and insects have gone silent; another threat lies hidden amidst the foliage. Someone is hunting you—or you, them. Is that the smell of smoke and the beginnings of a fire? Perhaps this will be the setting of a cataclysmic battle.

7) SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
What started as an ordinary stroll through the garden has turned into something else entirely. There's something unearthly about this place, like you've stepped into a different world. Perhaps it's a gateway to another realm, or you've otherwise stumbled across some mythical secret. Or, alternatively, you aren't really in a garden—you're just here in a dream.

A) PARK / BOTANICAL GARDEN.
The garden is part of a well-maintained park with a large variety of plants. There's a pond somewhere lined with a series of willows. Sometimes, geese, ducks, and other waterfowl pass through.

B) PALACE GARDEN.
If there's a magnificent palace, it stands to reason that the garden is just as beautiful, right? Think countless species of flowers, beautifully maintained trees, fish ponds with gorgeous water lilies, butterflies fluttering in the distance.

C) FIELD OF FLOWERS.
It's not quite an actual garden, but if you go to a field of flowers, you could make a wreath. Or flower crowns, if that's more of your thing. There could be four-leaf clovers hidden among the wildflowers.

D) MAZE.
Hedge mazes can be fun sometimes, right? Maybe there's a legend to go alongside it: if you and your beloved start at opposite ends of the maze and meet again in the center, your love will be eternal.

E) SHADED GARDEN.
There's a walkway lined with flowering trees. A shaded area with a gazebo, a table, a set of chairs. Today could be a fine day for some tea or coffee. You could host a little garden party.

F) GREENHOUSE.
It's warm in the greenhouse and long rows of plants line every available surface inside. Are you tending to the plants or looking to make a purchase?

G) HOUSE GARDEN.
It's nothing spectacular, but you have your own little garden that you've been taking care of, growing flowers and vegetables and anything else that strikes your whimsy.

H) WINTER GARDEN.
With the cold weather, the flowers have withered and the trees lie dormant, their barren branches coated in frost. Snow covers the grass and lines the benches; a hush has fallen over this place. Are those footprints in the snow? Have you come here for a purpose?

[ she's felt eyes all evening, most of which flicker appreciatively over the low cut of her dress, easy to catch, easy to encourage - and easy to discard, like a child bored with a toy. and to her mysterious watcher's credit, Margaery doesn't realize there's another type of gaze trailing after her until she finds a rare moment alone, trading her empty glass of water for another.

curious. and exciting. she'd assumed this would be another boring political function, where the most enthralling bit of the evening would be tucking away all the newest gossip to share with her family at the next private dinner.

instead, she purposely winds her way around the crowd one more time, feigning interest in saying hello to those she hadn't greeted previously, waiting to see if the feeling of being watched will dissipate in time.

it doesn't. it lingers, still, even as she takes an isolated path away from the party, deeper into the perfumed air of the garden, where stems heavy with flowers bend to greet her. the vibrant color of the petals put even her most ostentatious jewels to shame.

her fingers brush against the soft leaves, grazing over thorns. when she speaks, her voice is amused.

[Ava had a small collection of plants, cuttings that she kept in glass jars back in San Francisco. she's fairly sure they're all long dead by now, given she hasn't returned in some time.

she hasn't been so sure how to make this Watchtower situation feel like a home quite yet, how to settle in or feel as if she belongs. in the middle of a large always busy noisy city is a very different feeling than hidden out in the woods.

though the view is nice.

eventually she starts bringing in a plant or two at a time, a few small potted varieties, setting them around the kitchen and the common areas. today she has one a bit larger, a lush fern overflowing from its basket. she can barely see over the leaves as she steps off the elevator.]

Winona Kirk keeps her lips drawn into a thin line to power through her anxiety leading her son (her only remaining son, God) through a queue for the opening of a new botanical research center and corresponding visitor's indoor walking park. Jimmy watches the tense line of her shoulders stay ramrod strait, only relaxing when she seems to spy a familiar face.

"Vass! I hope we didn't keep you waiting. James, I want to introduce you to a...a friend of mine from work. He helps run this place."

"Former colleague would be more appropriate." The Vulcan replies, though there is no unkindness in his tone. Wionona's son is every bit as she had described through her messages. He does indeed seem underweight for a human of his age, wary in demeanor.

Jimmy doesn't know why it's so damn important for him to be taken away from Frank and Iowa while his mom goes through the divorce process. It's not like she'd been around or anyone had been looking after him up until this point Not since Sam ran off. But here he is, on a whole other planet (which would be cool in any other circumstance), meeting another strange man his mom is dumping him off on all too soon. His mouth twists with frustration but there's not much he can do about the situation.

"Mom said...you also like to work with plants." Jimmy finally pipes up by way of a reluctant greeting.

"Vague, but correct. I will be required to attend to some tasks here for the time being, Winona. Perhaps you and your son would find gratification in the public areas?"

The adults keep talking but Jimmy's tuned out by this point, looking around at the large geometric design of what looks to be some kind of glass ceiling overhead. It's when he drops his gaze again that he notices another kid walking in with presumably his mom. It's the first kid he's seen since their shuttle landed all the way out here.
