You're a...treasure

ONE-WORD DESCRIPTORS
• top levels go here.

• after you've done the do, other characters comment in with one word their character thinks describes yours. is it a first impression? a deep insight into their moral fiber? something about how choice dat butt is?

• go from there.

[Jumba is starting to regret bringing up Beach Bachelor Survivor now, oh boy...]

Yes yes, Sebastian is horrible because he did not give thorny flower to Ashley during initial mating ceremony, and Aaron needs to win because he is sweetest, most handsome. We have been over this. [He waves a dismissive hand.] I still do not understand why they do not unleash predator monsters onto island. Word 'survivor' is in title, but there is very little happening to be making this a challenge. Oh nooo, they have to pitch their own tent, how dangerous.

[You mentioned human TV, this is your own undoing, Jumba.]

People dying wouldn't make for good TV, now would it, Jumba?
...Wait, it might to you...
But regardless, that would ruin the bachelor part! How is anyone supposed to strike up a romance while running in fear? It would ruin the appeal of the show. There's supposed to be a balance!

[He was just trying to prove a point! And boy, is that point proven.]

If you ask me, romance forged in fires of fear and life-threatening situation is far more interesting to watch. But if they insist on being boring about it, they need to be changing the title. It is false advertising! [He raises a hand to his chin, mulling it over.] It can be... Beach Bachelor Boring and Mundane Challenges.

They still need to survive on the island, though! They're surviving nature, not unnatural creatures! The only predators on the island are those that are already there!

Are you saying to me that if typical Earth predator came up to group to devour innocent human, they would be left to fend for themselves? They would not stop filming?

[If so, he just might start paying more attention to the show again in hopes of a shark attack.]
wendypleakley: (011)

[personal profile] wendypleakley 2025-06-01 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
No! That's not what I'm saying at all!

[Pleakley waves his arms around.]

They're not going to show people dying for real on television!
onlytheoretical: (Explaining)

[personal profile] onlytheoretical 2025-06-01 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pleakley can flail all he wants, but Jumba stands perfectly still and unimpressed.]

Then it is not a survivor tale, yes? They are not in any real danger.
wendypleakley: (014)

[personal profile] wendypleakley 2025-06-01 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ugh, Jumba is so... frustrating! Pleakley is so frustrated!]

You just have no understanding of quality Earth television. The "Survivor" part of the title builds tension, but not too much tension for humans to handle!
onlytheoretical: (Defiant)

[personal profile] onlytheoretical 2025-06-01 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Strange... Little girl seems like she would enjoy predator attack tension very much. Are you sure you are knowing what humans can handle?
wendypleakley: (015)

[personal profile] wendypleakley 2025-06-01 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Lilo might be able to handle it, but most humans wouldn't. Which one of us is the Earth expert here, huh? Trust me!
onlytheoretical: (Explaining)

[personal profile] onlytheoretical 2025-06-02 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
So you are saying little girl is tougher than other humans? She is... superior human? It is not surprising, I am just wanting to be sure we are on the same page.
wendypleakley: (023)

[personal profile] wendypleakley 2025-06-02 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
From what I've seen, yes. Humans are a very fragile species!
onlytheoretical: (:))

[personal profile] onlytheoretical 2025-06-03 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Then, we are very lucky to have found superior human. Little girl is the prime specimen of her kind.
wendypleakley: (004)

[personal profile] wendypleakley 2025-06-03 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Lilo and Nani are both resilient and brave- maybe it's a family thing!
onlytheoretical: (Excited)

[personal profile] onlytheoretical 2025-06-05 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He takes a moment to consider the truth to that theory, humming under his breath.]

Physical endurance may be improved through genetic factors, that is true. But courage and mental ability to process difficulty is determined by personality, which is shaped by external factors such as environment. However, family often is sharing environment, so... Yes! It is family thing!
wendypleakley: (017)

[personal profile] wendypleakley 2025-06-05 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[This conversation is going in many wildly different directions, isn't it?]

I don't think personality is always determined by external factors. There are plenty of people out there who are nothing like people they shared an environment with growing up.
onlytheoretical: (:D)

[personal profile] onlytheoretical 2025-06-06 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
[The one word game is completely forgotten by now, alas.]

Correct! Some go in opposite direction while growing up because they do not want to be like people they shared environment with. Or because people they shared environment with will not let them have same personality traits. The molding of individuality is a truly fascinating field.
wendypleakley: (006)

[personal profile] wendypleakley 2025-06-06 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't always have a reason, at least not a clear one.

[Pleakley is very much thinking about himself and his family here. He's nothing like the rest of them, he's always been nothing like the rest of them, and there's no discernible reason why.]
onlytheoretical: (Excited)

[personal profile] onlytheoretical 2025-06-06 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
No no, I think there is always reason. But that is classic 'nature versus nurture' debate. I always believed nature was stronger, until I saw 626 evolve beyond nature's limitations. Nurture is truly powerful influence.
wendypleakley: (023)

[personal profile] wendypleakley 2025-06-06 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It is, definitely.

[How has this turned into a philosophical debate? Who knows. Pleakley's certainly not going to speak against Jumba about nuture being important, though! Because it clearly is very important!

...However, he does have one thing to say.]

...The little monster is hardly natural.
onlytheoretical: (Laughing)

[personal profile] onlytheoretical 2025-06-07 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a few seconds of silence, then Jumba just laughs heartily. It's a good point Pleakley just raised.]

Ha ha! Perhaps I should be saying biology then. Nurture versus genetic coding!
