tl;dr shin is an esper. mindreading and other abilities. if your character has resistance to this lmk or if you prefer shin not do this at all lmk. it can be worked around since it's not always working for various reasons. oh and he's also an ex-assassin, in case your character might've known him through That life. more info/permissions, opt-in/out, etc on his journal. ]

[ To cut a long, but ultimately uninteresting story short, tonight started well, continued as such with information obtained, and ended with a claustrophobic fight. A fight that, a little like the job that preceded it, started well, took a dip in the middle, and picked up by the skin of it's teeth at the end. It's been a while since Esther's seen the business end of a knife like that, but as long as it didn't end up embedded in her neck or somewhere in her abdomen, she won't be found complaining. Much. If it hadn't been for the interruption of a second man to nudge things out of her favour, maybe it wouldn't have gone the way it did.

All over a fucking memory stick. She has no idea what's on it and frankly she couldn't care less; when the pay hits her account there'll be nothing sensible about how she spends it.

A sensible person would be seeking medical attention right about now. Generally that's an apt descriptor for her. But injuries like this tend to attract attention, and honestly, there's one place closer than the ER right now that she'd rather go to. Less noise, fewer people, fewer questions. No need to worry about what to do with Hades. Someone familiar, hands she knows.

It's embarrassing, really - the combination of the bloody nose, the split lip, the soon-to-be bruises in a variety of intensities blossoming everywhere God deemed worthy of being bruisable, it feels more juvenile than anything else. Like a playground scuffle. It's the gash up her arm, slicing through her sleeve from above her elbow to just shy of her shoulder that really gives the 'fucked up' edge to an otherwise regularly messy evening. It could be worse, but it's bleeding more than she'd like. It feels like the pressure she's putting on it is doing fuck all.

It's far past the sociable hours of the night, but it's been mutually reassured that that isn't an issue if one of them needs the other. It's that she reminds herself of as she parks, discreet and as hidden away as she can manage, about a block from Jesse's place on the off chance she's been followed. She's sure she hasn't been, but better safe than sorry. It does mean that, once she's thought to grab her first aid kit, that the walk to his house is a much slower one than she'd like, with Hades circling, whining, nosing at her between keeping an eye on the street ahead.

When she reaches the outskirts of his front yard, she lets herself rest against the nearest tree for a second, and pulls out her phone with a wince. Hades bolts for the door that's become far more familiar to him as of late. Scratches at it, barks sharp and loud until Esther calls him back through gritted teeth. Pushes to get to the front door herself.

She doesn't need neighbours waking up. ]

Are you home?

[ Regardless of what he might reply, she knocks anyway. Leans heavily against the wall in the meantime, does what she can to hush Hades down. ]

[ The big positive about being immortal is not having to worry about pesky things like healing. At least healing in the way other people have to concern themselves. His bones will mend; his body will piece itself together; there isn't anything that can kill him.

But that's not the same for others.

Especially true when it devours the energy of others, leaving them exhausted and unable to pull upon their skills. They've used their healing tints to stabilize the others, but their campsite has become a hospital versus a place to rest. Esquie monitors Sciel and Maelle -- both sleeping restlessly on his stomach, but alive and mending well.

That just leaves their action hero, Lune, needing personalized bedside attention. ]
