Well I thought it was a fantasy novel about dragons and it’s apparently very popular. I thought I was picking up an Anne McCaffery world-building level novel. It’s romance novel garbage. Again.

I used to enjoy horror and murder mysteries. Then I had to start living them.
I also like things that have a consistent level of world building and plot. So I wouldn’t say I necessarily like Sci-fi and Fantasy all of the time because I don’t, there’s a lot of truly mediocre books in both categories, but they can be a fun read when they’re good.
To go by an earlier example I did enjoy the Dragons of Pern quite a lot when I read them in university, could have done without a strange plot device or two but largely they were fun.
I also enjoyed The Ender Quartet, it’s just a shame that the author had some ah… opinions. Spoilt it a bit.
