I just really like owls, okay? Used to have a pair of them that lived in the hay loft with me. They were like my little guardian angels, watching over me while I prayed.

I guess it sounds sort of silly, but when they were around, I didn't feel quite so alone.

[Ah.]

Well if it makes you feel any better, you don't get barn owls out here. Don't think they like the cold

Maybe... But I do miss seeing their silly little faces staring down at me from the rafters.

Anyway, promise me you won't go picking fights with owls anymore, barn or otherwise. You could've broken your fool neck stumbling around out there in the dark, and then where would I be?
cervid: (could you?)

[He swallows the urge to say anything that amounts to "better off"-- that'd just get her upset again.]

I will not pick fights with owls that aren't making eyes at your chicken coop.

They don't taste all that great, anyway.

[ Good call. ]

And I will hold you to that promise, Arthur Morgan.

Now, since braised owl is clearly off the menu, I'll go rustle up some eggs and see what I can do about breakfast. If I have a few to spare, I'll make some medovik for us to eat later.
