How is imagining an empty room going to help me?
counterstep: (i don't wanna)

[personal profile] counterstep 2025-05-23 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
because imagining a full room means the room is already a mess

empty means you start clean

But I like it that way, it comforts me. Can't I just imagine the mess?
counterstep: (welp)

why the hell would you want a messy memory palace?? you wouldn't even be able to keep track of the mess

Because clean empty spaces weird me out bro, it feels too much like a hospital room or a serial killer's apartment.
counterstep: (well well well)

you'll fill it up after you start filing things away in it
it's not supposed to be empty forever
you just start that way so that you have clean memory connections to each thing you link together

Ok ok, I think I get where you're coming from.

So this helps you then?

counterstep: (what now?)

[personal profile] counterstep 2025-05-23 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
yeah
if you build up enough connections related to different things, especially using markers that remind you of other things, it's very difficult to forget any of the small details that might get missed

actually, I find the small details stand out more as a result because usually I'm linking things with those small details

when I find something suspicious, I map out a new room for it
