So what's with the all the green? Why is it your theme?

[ He hates that that just rhymed. ]

Because it's not a bad color scheme. [ She thinks she's funny. Or at least amusing. ]

I was born with the hair. Figured I might as well go all the way with embracing standing out.

[ It gets a chuckle out of him. ]

I don't think I've ever met anyone born with green hair before. [ That being said, it's not the strangest thing he's seen or come across, so he just takes it in stride. ]

It suits you, for what it's worth. [ He gestures to his own hair, a teasing half grin in place. ] Not sure it's a look I could pull off.

Not surprising. It's a part of my mutation. [ Believe it or not. She lets out a huff of a scoff and then just shrugs. Kind of a weird part of a mutation, but definitely not the worst physical thing she could have gotten there. ]

Thanks. Don't get that too often. [ At least not growing up. She gives him a side glance and then rolls a shoulder. ] Why not try it out? See how you look in it.

Nah, I tried bleaching my hair once in high school and the results were pretty brutal.

[ Said with a shrug. Lessons learned. That and he can't be bothered to deal with roots growing out eventually and the maintenance of it. ]

Part of your mutation though, that's pretty cool actually. Does it only affect the hair or does it come with other stuff? [ His expression shifts to an apologetic half smile as he realizes he might be stepping over a line with that kind of question. ] Sorry. I don't wanna pry, I'm just obnoxiously curious sometimes. And a bit of a punk, like we covered.

Bleaching is just step one. Nobody looks good with it just bleached. [ But she rolls her shoulder with shrug. ] Keeping up with it is a real pain anyway. Used to have to keep it black. [ Which was a real bitch for a few reasons. ]

Nah, don't be sorry. I like punks and I like people asking about it. Better than the alternative. [ People being freaked out about it or threatening to call the government in. She dips her head and gives a small smile. ] Comes with a lot more than green hair. You want to see? [ When she lifts her head there's hesitation in her eyes, bit of suspicion, but also a bit of apprehensive excitement. She likes her mutation, likes getting to show off, but the world isn't great to her kind. ]

Yeah, it's the keeping up with it part that makes me not want to deal with it. [ He tries to picture her with black hair and can't quite manage it, the vibrant green really does suit her. ]

Hell yeah, I want to see. [ He answers without missing a beat, enthusiasm and curiosity evident across his features as he smiles. He's come across a few people with special abilities, and it always sparks his interest - wanting to know the ins and outs of what they can do. Maybe it's because outside of the exo-wing suit he's just a regular guy, so getting a glimpse into what living life with abilities would be like is kind of fascinating. At least for some, for others it ended up just making things harder. ]

Fair. Never wanted to either. [ Mostly because she just hated hiding her own hair. She raises an eyebrow and tries to hide the fact that she's actually excited to get to show something off. There's a reputation she's got to keep.

What she starts off with is small, just a hint of a green mist twirling around her fingers that slowly increases in density and vividness. She tilts her head to glance around at a suitable subject to play around with. Could she just take one of her bangles off and bend that around? Sure. But for some reason she wants to go big or go home today.

So a poor saps car near them gets lifted off the ground. Not too far, she's not interested in ruining someone's day completely, but enough to be very noticeable. ]

Short explanation is I can manipulate metal.

[ His eyes widen as he watches vibrant green begin to swirl around her fingers, and when she lifts a goddamn car off the ground is when he not so subtly exclaims - ] Holy shit! [ He can't believe what he's seeing, but it's definitely real; his gaze shifts between her and the car for a moment, before a broad smile stretches across his face. ]

That's the coolest thing I've ever seen. [ He shakes his head, breathing out a chuckle. ] I mean I already thought the naturally green hair was cool, but that? [ He gestures toward the car. ] Amazing, really.

[ Now that gets a proud smirk from her as she moves her hand down, the car moving down with the movement making a tiny 'thud' as it hits the ground. ] Got annoyed at some guys at a bar once and flipped his car completely. Look on his face was worth it.

[ Would always be worth it. The mist stays around her fingers and she slides off one of the bangles around her wrist. It floats there above her hand and then it stretches out as she flexes her wrist some. She brings her other hand up and pulls it out flat before slowly working it back into it's original shape. ]

Not many people think it's amazing. So...thanks I guess. [ She's not good at thanks but hey, she means it. ] I can fly too, even with someone else. As long as they have some metal on them. [ Everyone always does. ]

I can imagine. [ He lets out a laugh, picturing the look on the guy's face. Must have been all too satisfying.

He watches curiously as she manipulates the metal bracelet with a graceful ease, and when she says thanks he just gives a nod along with a warm smile. While he can't know what it's like to have been born with that kind of power, he can guess at the challenges it comes with; especially when dealing with revealing that part of yourself to other people. ]

Really? See now I think you're just showing off. [ His tone is teasing, and the wide smile makes it clear he's also egging her on just a little. Hey, from a guy who's used to flying thanks to the exo-wing suit; he wouldn't mind knowing what it feels like being in the air without it. ] You wanna give it a shot? I'm ready and willing, if so. [ He taps at the center of his chest; where his military dog tags clink a little beneath his shirt. A shirt that also has metal buttons, not to mention the metal of his belt, and a couple of sturdy metal rings he wears on the fingers of both his right and left hand. ]

So what if I am? [ Hers is also a teasing tone, what amounts to 'playful' from someone stuck in sarcasm mode. After a few more seconds of treating her metal bangle like it's actually just play-doh she flicks her wrist to snap it back around her wrist. The almost perfect way it slots back might give the impression she just might fiddle with it like this a lot.

Everyone needs a fidget toy, right? All the better when it's a handmade one.

She arches an eyebrow curiously. Both at his willingness and at that clink under his shirt. There's a familiar feel to those dog tags, one that she's felt a time or two around an ex-military friend of hers. ] You definitely have enough on you to make it easy. You sure you're willing to trust me in the air?

[ He notices the ease with which her bracelet snaps back around her wrist, and he can recognize a fidget object when he sees it. He does it with his dog tags sometimes, barely noticing it until someone points it out.

But he's not fidgeting now, he's just looking at her with a steady gaze and a grin as he nods. ] I mean, you're not gonna drop me right?

[ His tone is playful, light hearted. Joaquin thinks of himself as a fairly good judge of character, and it might be a bit of a risk, trusting her like this; but his instinct tells him she's not going to hurt him. She could, he's seen that much. But again, he trusts his gut feeling. ]

Yeah, I trust you. Let's do this.

Maybe. Ask anyone and they'll tell you I'm unpredictable. [ Is that the best thing in the world for her to be? Probably not, but it is the way she is. Would she actually drop him? Also a nah, but maybe she's having fun playing a bit. Letting a tiny smirk curl on the edges of her lips. ]

Hope you don't regret it. [ Never really can tell. Flight's always been the trick with her powers she's loved the most, something real special to her. She doesn't share it too often with others, doesn't really get the chance, but she's going to scoop it up while she can.

The mist appears on both hands, swirls around with greens and flickers of yellow, before reaching out to wrap around all of the metal he's got on him. They both lift off the ground together, rising higher and higher in a shockingly smooth motion. Her eyes trace his expression for any signs of what he might be thinking. If it's freaking him out or he's having a good time. Or something in between. ]

...how are you? Really?

Shit, but I've probably got the least right to complain about the state of things than...anyone.

[exhaling quietly as he lifts a hand to reach out to Lorna, then lets it drop]

You can still tell me. If you want to.

[ damn if a part of her doesn't just want him to have kept reaching out. but she just drops her head and huffs. ]

You're way too good. [ for her. ] But I think you're at the top of the list of people I shouldn't complain to.

[Marcos wants to just wrap his arms around her so they can both forget everything for a little while. He doesn't know if she'd let him. Hell, he doesn't know if he'd let him, which is a really stupid thing to think, but he's thought lots of really stupid things since she left.]

Oh, no. I've made so many mistakes, Lorna.

I don't know if I'll be able to see you again after this, and I'd like to know how you're doing. You, and Dawn, and other people too, if you want.

[ Part of wants to argue that she's made it to the top of the 'mistakes made' list but she's tried. So damn tired of arguing and fighting and just all of it. She shrugs a half-hearted shrug and wishes she had the guts to close the distance between them. But if she did that she wouldn't want to ever let go. ]

I'd be doing a lot better if you could stay. If we could all be together in a world that wasn't so screwed up. [ she sighs ]

But I'm afraid that's never going to be a thing no matter what any of us tries. [ Really, it just seems to constantly get worse, not better. She folds her arms over her chest just to have something to do with them that doesn't involve wanting to take his hand. ] What about you? You doing alright with... everything?
