[Her lack of immediate reply is half an answer in itself. Arid isn't given to flights of fancy; to what-ifs and if-onlys. Her imaginative streak always starts with what is and works from there. But sometimes, perhaps...]

...I have occasionally considered the limitations of your physical design. I would wish that you were not so vulnerable to harm or injury. And if you were a machine, there would be... other. options available to you. Things we could attempt together.

But if you were a machine, you would have programming of your own to contend with. And you would be unable to experience most of the things you now enjoy. You would not be Jim Kirk.
