Touch

From birth, human beings are wired to touch and to be touched. Whether it's a warm embrace or a reassuring hand on the shoulder, touch is an integral part of human interaction and creating bonds. Not all forms of touch are created equal however. Some are gentle and uplifting while others can be discouraging or even harmful, so one should always be mindful of the unspoken messages they intend to convey to those around them.

I meant...one where you won't be hunted.

I have a place for you.
(She brings his hand to her chest, holding it there.)

[Is he dreaming? He feels like he's dreaming. She can't possibly be telling him what she seems to be telling him.]
no subject
But I can't.
(Her heart races under his palm.)

You should. What sort of life could you have with me?
[Okay, so M. Lefevre used to pay him 20,000 francs a month, and he still has most of that money, so technically he's loaded, but still.]

[Despite what he once called betrayals, he trusts her more than anyone else.]

Away from the city. The country, maybe? Would you miss...this?
(The commotion, the crowds.)
He... (Christine lets out a small sigh.) He will find happiness.

You would...leave him behind?

You are certain that this is what you want?

(Christine presses their palms together.)
I'm here. I'm certain.

What of...everything that happened?
[It's the closest he's come to admitting his culpability in the events at the opera house, and probably the only time he will willingly mention any of it.]
