the tucking in meme
So tired and sleepy, you just wanna catch a few z's. Don't worry your pretty little sleep head, someone else is here to keep you company into dreamland. Though whether it's comforting, romantic, melancholic, or perhaps even something a bit more sinister, depends entirely upon who is tucking who in.
Maybe your dreams won't be so sweet tonight.
HOW TO:
» POST with your character and prefs

"I only intend to rest weary feet," the god called out, as he slid down to the base of the tree. "But try anything, and you will regret it."

Then she pads off to find him carrying the blanket over one arm. He needs rest and she will just gently encourage him.

He flipped to the next page when he heard footsteps, and he tried not to sigh, attempting to focus on the pages but the words were starting to blur. After leaning back and rubbing his eyes, Loki cursed quietly under his breath. This was going to take longer than he'd thought, and he was certainly in no mood for her conversation.

Instead of asking him when he will be done or asking him to just stop and rest she tucks the blanket around his shoulders.
For when he is ready. She cannot order him to do anything.
Then she takes over her favorite chair and balances her chin in her hands as she watches and waits.

Still, it was on the tip of his tongue. The moment she approached, Loki decided that would be it, and he would shoo her back to her chambers-- but instead there was a warm blanket draped over his shoulders, and further silence. Puzzled, Loki hesitated before drawing a hand up to trace a fingertip along the fabric. He had to admit ... he was not expecting that.
Eventually he sighed, leaving the blanket where it was as he returned to his book. He didn't look up, he already knew she'd be staying there with the foolish pretense of keeping him company. "This is unnecessary."

"You're tired," she points out. "You also have more work to do. I just wanted to be sure you would at least be comfortable."
That doesn't explain why she is still up. She rubs her face with one hand. "I'll be quite."

True, Loki was tired. But he wasn't going to let something silly and pathetic as mere paperwork and research get the better of him. At the very least, he vowed he was going to finish the next ten encryptions, and then he could consider resting his eyes for a while. Whether or not she chose to stay in that chair the whole while ... that was her own volition.
"I work better in solitude," Loki responded, but he left the blanket around his shoulders, his pen returning to the old text to write and write some more. "Surely your bed is more comfortable."
pre-Thor?
They're in pursuit of some manner of wild animal which has been terrorising nearby villages and decided to stop for the night, if only to extend their leave of absence. Thor, after all, far prefers hunting to the stuffy councils his father has him sit on. Peace may be good for the realm, but it makes for extremely dull conversation.
Their campfire is beginning to burn low, but Thor finds sleep eluding him.
"Brother, are you awake?"
yes please! sorry i'm late :c
The animal had yet to be tracked down, but they were well on their way. It was a longer, more tiring journey than what Loki was expecting however, and the fallen tree trunk he was leaning against wasn't helping the ache in his back. He was weary, chin propped in one hand as he tried to keep his eyes open, but the burning embers of their fire was almost like a sweet lullaby.
Of course, Thor's voice startled him awake, and Loki rubbed his eyes as he straightened his position.
"I am now," he answered, raising his arms to stretch his muscles. "What is so important to discuss that you had to wake me?"

He was not accustomed to deep thought; indeed he usually had little use for it. He was skilled enough at hunting and fighting that instinct and strength served him well, and he often found himself growing bored if there were long stretches where he lacked anything to do.
But he was not incapable of it, his deep thoughts were like icebergs; large and slow, usually moving out of sight. He liked to think Loki's thoughts, in comparison, were like lightning, fast and deadly.
"When do you think father will name his heir?"
It was not a question he would have asked the warriors three, or even Sif. To them he boasted that his father's mind must be made up already. He did not like them to know of that he himself was not as assured of the outcome as he would like.

It was probably impossible. Loki shrugged his shoulders.
"You are too eager," he answered, his voice as tired as he was, but now wasn't the time to get any rest. Not when Thor would go off on this tangent again. Was he excited again? Probably - Thor usually was.
"Do you not know how he is by now?" Loki continued, a hand lifting to rub his eyes. "He makes us wait, and judges our behaviours to ensure the decision he has already made is the right one."
