[Edward's anger quickly re-routes itself from being directed at Matt to whoever has hurt his boyfriend, he follows behind Matt like a puppy but his face is set into furrow of concern and outrage.]

[ A half-truth. Which is not fully a lie. ]

The cops are looking into it.

[ He wouldn't normally do this but Matt goes to make an ice pack. ]

They attacked you?! How dare they!!

[Ed seethes, clenching and un-clenching his fists rapidly.]

Did you see what they looked like?!

[ Matt can't help but laugh. ]

Edward. Really?

[ He takes off his glasses to remind his boyfriend that he's still very much blind. ]

[Ed stops short when realizes what he just said and sighs, running a hand through his hair.]

Arghghhh! No one hurts my boyfriend and gets away with it!!

The cops will handle it. This isn't the first time it's happened to me and it won't be the last.

[ He holds out a hand towards him. ]

[Ed doubts the cops will do anything, they're useless, but when Matt extends a hand he pushes aside his anger and takes it. Moving in to wrap his arms around Matt, hugging him carefully.]

I just don't like seeing you hurt.

[ The hug hurts a little even careful as it is. Definitely a cracked rib. ]

Yeah, I can tell. [ He presses a kiss to his temple. ] We'll just have you pick me up from the office next time so I'm not walking home alone.

[ It won't work the next time he has to deal with Daredevil business but hopefully it'll make Edward feel better and he won't ask too many more questions. ]

[The rest of his anger subsides as he studies Matt bruised face and he goes into 'nurse' mode.]

Here, you should sit down and rest.

[ He shakes his head a little. ]

We were supposed to have dinner. I've ruined our plans enough as it is.

[ And cooking will hopefully be a good distraction from asking more probing questions about what happened. ]

Let me try and help to make up for being so late.

[Ed takes the offered hand and leads them both to Matt's couch, sitting down carefully next to him.]

My day was uneventful compared to yours. I had brunch with my friend Oswald where we discussed some potential business ideas and then I went shopping for new socks and dinner ingredients.

[Which are now being stored in Matt's fridge since it's too late to cook his meal idea.]

Again, I'm sorry I ruined dinner.

[ Matt leans his head back on the couch. ]

I might miss more dates if the cops call me in to ask me more questions about what happened.

[ Not a bad excuse to allow him to do more Daredevil stuff without causing too much of a problem between them. Hopefully. ]

That's a big if....it's been my experience that cops rarely follow up on these types of things.

[Ed scoffs but then lifts a hand to gently comb it through Matt's hair, trying to soothe him.]

[ But he did and that's where the guilt comes from. ]

[ He takes Edward's hand and brings it down to kiss his palm. ]
