How to Play:

1. No blank top-levels. Put a "don't panic, but..." statement in your top-level. Examples:
   • "Don't panic, but my father's coming and I need you to hide me."
   • "Don't panic, but everyone's throwing up."
   • "Don't panic, but I think something just exploded around the corner."
   • "Don't panic, but there's someone following you."
   • "Don't panic, but your shoes clash with that purse really badly."
2. Respond to other people's statements. Maybe you can help them. Maybe you can make the situation worse. Maybe you can't help but panic.

[ Jesse stiffens the moment the words leave her mouth. Don’t panic is a terrible way to start any sentence, especially when it ends with the police and your car. His jaw tightens before she even finishes, eyes darting toward the direction she indicated. He doesn’t whip around (too obvious), but his posture shifts. Subtle and controlled, like someone used to thinking up strategic exits even when things seem calm. ]

He doesn’t ask are they coming over? because if they were coming over, Esther would’ve said so. Right? He feels the building urge to look over his shoulder, in the direction of his car, but doesn't. Instead, Jesse runs through a mental inventory: what’s in the car? Is anything visible? Did he leave something in the glovebox that he shouldn’t have? He hasn’t done anything lately. Not today, anyway. Jesse knows better than to leave the house with anything on him if he's not going directly to a sale. But that doesn’t matter. Cops looking at him never ends with a nod and a have-a-nice-day. His voice stays low when he speaks again, tight but steady. ]

You sure it’s the car and not me? [ A faint smirk tries to tug at his mouth, but it doesn’t make it all the way. He's trying to deflect. Trying to stay calm so he doesn't lose his shit. ] I mean. Could be the vibe, right? I’m real charming.

[ He tries to joke, but his knee is bouncing with anxiety now and he's already mentally mapping out an escape route. ]
