Admire your object of affection from afar. Hang out with them as much as you can. Be awkward as only you can. Enjoy being in their presence or being close to them because afhhdhflfh they're so pretty and so aaaaahh you're ensnared. Be super nice to them. Dote on them because they're so darn cute. Fulfilling their every whim will get you in good! Or be a terrible tsundere, as that's all some of you assholes know how to do. Eventually, you'll get over your denial and realize, grizzled warrior-king or megalomaniacal god or bitchy brat you are, you're feeling flushed. HOW TO PLAY Comment with your character, preference, and what role you'd like to play. Cutesy, emotional, kind, or young characters might get smitten easily. But part of the fun is seeing completely stoic, inappropriate, or horrible characters get silly quickened heart beats. Of course, said stoic, inappropriate, or horrible characters getting crushed on is just as funny. RNG for a prompt or just go nuts. [Following their unexpected, spontaneous indulgence at a fancy hotel in the Sage Island town proper, Cater had been attempting to rewire himself back to a semblance of normalcy. In some ways, he was ever normal--so much of what he did was wrapped in layers of carefully-concealed calculation. But as normal as things ever were. Happy-go-lucky displays of extroversion, club meetings, Heartslabyul parties. But any time he let his guard down, his thoughts kept wandering back to that night and the following day.

It was easy enough to redirect when he had someone or something to distract himself, but lights out was the worst. Once he was safely alone in his dorm room and all the pretenses came down, he was consumed by just how different things felt, now. Leona was in his head, firmly clawed in. He kept checking that carefully-curated Magicam profile that wasn't even updated all that frequently. Kept searching for other snippets about him online for any shred of intel that he didn't already know--that he knew wouldn't be particularly true or revealing to the person he'd spent that private moment with.

But maybe even worse than that were those moments that Leona was there. When the prince happened to be in the cafeteria at lunch instead of having Ruggie deliver him food elsewhere, Cater's eyes followed him. And Seven forbid, Seven strike him down when Leona caught him staring. His heart races, and he can feel his face going as red as a tomato as snippets of memory flash behind his eyes. Those eyes, that smirk, up close and personal. Skin on skin.

Startling the freshmen flanking him, Cater stands abruptly. Someone asks if he's feeling okay, says he's looking like he's running a fever. He laughs it off, absent. Put too much hot sauce on his food, he says. Anyway, restroom. It's a wonder he has the restraint to not trip over himself and actually walk out of the common area with some level of unhurriedness.]

Percy still wasn’t entirely sure how this had happened. Not in a bad way—no, quite the opposite. Just that every time Vex smiled at him a certain way, or reached for his hand without hesitation, his brain seemed to short-circuit for half a second.

They weren’t even doing anything dramatic tonight. Just sitting on the edge of a fountain in Whitestone’s courtyard, passing a flask between them while the stars blinked overhead.

Still, Percy kept stealing glances.

“Gods,” he finally muttered, half to himself, “I’m going to make a complete fool of myself over you, aren’t I?”

He looked at her then—really looked—and let out a breath that was half a laugh. “No, don’t answer that. I already know.”

He hesitated, fingers brushing hers, uncertain in that way someone is when something matters too much. “I just… I keep thinking I’ll wake up, and this will all have been some ridiculous, wonderful dream.”

There was color in his cheeks now, the tips of his ears pink with the admission.

“And then I’ll have to live with the knowledge that the most brilliant woman I’ve ever known once kissed me.” A beat. Then, more sheepishly, “Twice. Three times, if I’m counting properly.”

[Going to class really, really, really really sucks most days on account of it Being Class, and Cater was convinced that today would be even worse. He'd really wanted to just go ahead and skip it altogether, but with all that he's been using his unique magic lately Nazuna'd made it clear to him that it would make him feel a lot better if he'd go to at least a few classes without splitting.

But during his last class of the day he finds his eyes wandering to the the clock— both the one on the wall and the one on his phone when he can sneak it— and as he realizes the end of it all is approaching he begins to feel this great anticipation. In half an hour he'd walk back to his dorm. And then in fifteen minutes, he'd be going home. And then suddenly it was only five until he'd be making his way back, back, back.

As much as he'd promised to take it easy Cater finds it necessary the moment the bell rings to do one teensy little split, because the anticipation flooding him is impossible to ignore. If anyone decides to stop him in the hall, he'll lose it. He'll blow their cover. So one Cater plays decoy and the other one power walks it back to Heartslabyul, sending a text to let Nazuna know he's on his way.

When he gets to his dorm, Nazuna will be waiting for him, and that makes him want to walk even faster— but thankfully, he has the self control to keep his powerwalking within the usual level of brisk.

There's a part of him that almost knocks when he gets there, but the rest of him has the presence of mind to realize that would look weird. So he unlocks the door as he usually does, steps inside— and leans against the door as he closes it, breathing out like he's stepped into this portal where everything should, probably, theoretically be okay.

...The anticipation doesn't come without anxiety, after all. He's still waiting on the other shoe to drop.
