The Lap Pillow Meme

From TV Tropes: A good way to show the physical intimacy and trust which a couple have is to rest one's head on the other's lap. Usually, the man does the resting while the woman provides the lap, not only because of anatomical reasons but because the lap-owner is typically of a nurturing nature more associated with femininity. Bonus points if she's feeding him grapes or stroking his hair. In some cases this is done between people who are not necessarily lovers, to comfort someone who is weeping or injured.

Or, in the case of the meme: screw the rules, we'll do anything. Maybe they're tired and just found a good place to rest? Maybe both parties were asleep? Hard to tell. All we know is, someone's head is going to be on another person's lap. Shenanigans will ensue.

[ Out of all of Bruce's sidekicks, Tim always felt like they were two of a kind more than any of the others. Not that Dick, Jason, and all the rest didn't have something to contribute - differences mean being strong where someone else is weak, it can broaden what you can do together versus what you can do apart. But even compared to the brat that was Bruce's literal flesh and blood, Tim felt more like him than anyone else.

Birds of a feather.

So while someone else might have fought Bruce on the sleep, Tim only gives cursory protest before going along with the mission. He's had his own sleep, he can help cover more ground while Bruce flags. Might insist on a break or two, but brings the tablet over to what amounts to a sofa so they can keep working without getting that look from Alfred.

And little by little Tim can see that lack of sleep catching up to Bruce, watching carefully as he flags, and eventually - okay so he ends up with a lap full of the world's greatest detective. Years of other loved ones in the same position have Tim carding his fingers through Bruce's hair without a second thought, the gesture just as soothing for him as he holds the tablet with the other hand to read over more consolidated information, to find that missing piece that's so close..

He said he would help, and now he's well and caught by the mystery, too. Even if he had an ulterior motive with the offer. ]

The mission itself had gone okay. He and Sam worked well together and, since he'd started training with both Cap and Isaiah, Joaquin had found even more confidence in the air and, thankfully, there had been no more explosions to send him spiralling out of the sky.

But just because it went okay, doesn't mean it went easily. What should have taken no more than 72 hours, including travel had taken nearly six days and Joaquin was tired. And then Sam had declared a need to stop in New York. He didn't elaborate on why and Joaquin didn't ask but he hoped it was so that his partner could actually talk to Bucky, ease some of the remaining tension.

There is one benefit to their layover and Joaquin doesn't even hesitate to text Bob and let him know that he's in town. Their friendship is relatively new. Joaquin had made an effort to introduce himself to everyone on Bucky's new team and he liked them all well enough but there was something about Bob.

When the man had told Joaquin he was welcome to swing by the tower, he didn't hesitate. He actually bumps into Bucky first and stops to chat for all of 6 and a half minutes, and Bucky actually says the most words he's ever said to him before pointing him in the direction of Bob with a Look. He doesn't analyse it too much.

He doesn't!

When he enters the ridiculously large living space, he takes a moment to look around before targeting in on the couch that Bob is occupying. He drops onto it with a whistle. "Nice digs!"
