MAY/DECEMBER ROMANCE

A May-December romance is any where there is a larger than average age difference between the partners involved. Sometimes this is met with disapproval, sometimes it is arranged, sometimes it is abuse of power, and other times it just happens and it's no one's fault or doing. This meme focuses on those relationships.

[ Here's the thing - unless it's another immortal, at a couple hundred years old Felix is definitely the December. But he kinks on shacking up with (usually mortal) men who look old enough to be his parent. So. May/December but not in the way it looks ... ]

[ Definitely the May. Not interested in the secret, the happily ever after and judgement prompts but willing in the others. ]

( ooc: yes hello, i just got into the series and nei is already my favorite ;u; this is my attempt at throwing someone into her canon, so please let me know if you'd rather i change anything! i tried to leave it a bit open, so you're welcome to assume any prior CR as you'd like. )

[ For about as long as they've both been in the maga-hunting business, Sun Ce and Nei have been markedly similar in some ways, yet dramatically different in others. They both display a single-minded focus when they're on the job, pushing themselves to the point that they have to be ordered to take a break. But while Nei seeks out the praise of others, Sun Ce is quick to deflect it, usually right onto whoever he's working with. It makes for an unusual dynamic when they're on an assignment together. It almost feels like a competition at times, even though they have the same goal and he's supposed to be her senior.

But if earning praise is what motivates Nei, competition is what motivates Ce. And as it turns out, when Sun Ce's response to a worthy rival is to compliment her, it all turns into a bit of a feedback loop. They try to outdo one another, he gives her praise that may or may not be to her specifications depending on the mood, rinse and repeat. Despite the decade or so that separates them, he's found himself drawn to her more and more... which has led them to this unspoken dynamic. ]

So, you got ordered to take some time off too, huh? I can see it all over your face.

[ A fond smirk forms on Sun Ce's lip as he leans against the wall, arms folded over his chest. He hates to admit it, but they both probably need the break that's been demanded of them, and it's not like he can bring himself to say no to Yoki anyway. ]

( it doesn't help in the slightest when competition drives her, too. the need to be the fastest, to have cleared the most assignments, to have done so without collateral damage - each and every time she gets bested in any of the fields she's painstakingly worked for drives her up a wall.

but it makes her better. keeps her from getting dull. maybe to a dangerous degree at times, but it makes every bit of praise she gets that much more satisfying especially when it's been earned.

and speaking of her face, she's throwing a bit of a sharp look in his direction when he points out the petulance that she's struggling to be keep in check. not that it's hard to see how restless she's getting with nothing else on her docket for the day,

he also caught her in flagrante delicto, which doesn't help in the slightest! so obviously on her way to the training grounds with her sword in hand even though they've been told to sit tight. )

Didn't they tell you to go to bed??

[ He pushes himself up and off the wall with an elbow, straightening his posture. He's guilty as charged, and he doesn't even try to hide it on his face. Her tone is familiarly indignant, but he's never taken it too personally, particularly coming from her.

He takes a step in front of her, not intending to stop her, but there's a little bit of mischief in his smile. ]

Yeah, well... the problem with that is that I'm not tired yet. Even if I went to bed right now, I'd just be restless all night, and I'd probably go crazy.

[ Every nerve ending in his body starts to feel like it's on fire when he stays still for too long, and he hates how it feels. It's only because he doesn't like to be insubordinate that he's even entertaining the thought of some downtime in the first place.

That, and the hope that she was in the same boat as him. ]
