[So, turns out that Lloyd's pretty purple sword? Did not like them one bit. Nope, the thing ended up being loyal to Mithos and severed the mana link entirely. Stranded on Sylvarant, a land already devoid of energy, the party didn't have much left to do besides try to help where they could. The summon spirits did what they could while there was still mana left, and then they faded out into the nothingness. Bit by bit, people blinked out of existence, unable to cope with the sorry state of the world.

But, there had been hope - somehow, some way, in the last legs of what they thought had been life altogether, Origin and Maxwell sparked back to life. They'd gone into a deep sleep, using their remaining mana to reach for Tethe'alla. It had taken days, weeks, months, no one was counting, but they did it. The catch was, however, that they needed more mana in order to link them together and revive the great seed. By then, the only source of mana left was life itself.

While the party had been eager to give up their lives for the wrongs they had committed, the remaining citizens offered what they had in exchange for the group's efforts. They wouldn't take no for an answer.

And so, here they are now. Zelos thinks it pretty ironic that the Chosen are some of the only people left. He'd been so ready to let go, so ready to abandon his pathetic excuse for a life, only to have that chance swiped from him at the last moment.

She had to remember the good times, she had to keep hope to keep going, have fun when she could, to enjoy the wonders of the past she could read in the books and find in the buildings of old. She had to dream that a happy ending was in her future. She had to believe in magic. If nothing else, she had to believe so she didn't give up entirely.]

[She was laying out on the roof of her home, camouflaged and unnoticed in the alien colony, surrounded by old books of fairy tales and legends, gazing up at the stars.]

From what he could see, this guy wasn't from around here. He probably didn't know the streets, didn't know where the lines were. And Keith wasn't like some people. He'd learned a long time ago that there wasn't anything to be gained from ignoring your fellow uninfected. Strength in numbers was the way to go.

His office building was now something of a stronghold. People treated him like a feudal lord of some sort, but that wasn't how he operated. Not anymore. This kid was from overseas, some sort of hospital family. Maybe he had some kind of information that could help the people that were left.

Keith hoped so. "C'mon," he said from the door. "Don't just... stand around out there."
