[She giggles, gently placing Martin down.]

Can I put it on you?

[Sounds so eager, this one.]

[He sends his brother a brief look, blinking when he's put down again, and turning to face her. At first he looks a little hesitant, then his expression quirks a moment, before shifting to a smile.]

Okay.

[He then makes a point of bowing gracefully on one paw, his tail sweeping out behind him with a flourish as he looks up at her with a grin.]

[The tail nails him right across the face and he leans back, spitting out a few rogue hairs.]

[Meanwhile Fluttershy is just positively giddy, and she carefully works the crown over Martin's ears before it settles properly on his head.]

There...does that feel all right?

[He waited for her to get the crown settled right and, when she finished, swiveled his ears back and forth, carefully testing his ability to move them without upsetting the flower crown.

Then he grinned, ears perked up and tail wagging.]

Feels fine!

[Course, he's probably now the prettiest bat-eared fox in town, but oh well.]

[She giggles, completely thrilled that he liked it.

Chris liked his too, but this reaction was better.]

[He chuckled a little at that, holding his head up as regally as he can manage.]

Hah'look at me. I'm King of the Foxes now.

[He moved to trot mock-elegantly around Chris as he spoke, although it very quickly devolved into the fox equivalent of stotting.]

[Be careful going around behind Chris, Martin. That tail could be soooooo easy to trip over.]

[Bounce, bounce, bounce, *trip* *thud* Thpffff.

Martin makes a lovely face-plant into the ground, back end balanced up in the air and his flower crown flopped down into his eyes. With a huff and a jerk of his head, he manages to set it slightly askew so he can see again.

...And to send Chris a look.]

[Chris snickered a little, turning and looking over his shoulder.]

Oops, sorry about that.

Oh...

[Reaching over, she helps adjust Martin's flower crown before picking him up.]

Are you okay?

[His expression flattened even more at Chris's response although it shifted completely when Fluttershy picked him up. Sparing only a surprised blink, he then gave her the best injured puppy-dog face expression he could manage, somehow even managing a lip wibble.]

I...*snff*...I guess so.

Oooh...Poor Martin...

[She snuggles him gently and lightly strokes back some fur.]

Do you need anything?

No...

[He hung his head a little dramatically, purely a pretense so that he could look aside at Chris...who had about the expression he was hoping for expecting.

He glanced briefly back at Fluttershy to see if she was looking, and when she wasn't he quickly stuck his tongue out at his brother, before returning to his a sad-eyed look, albeit with a forcibly weak smile.]

...I'll be okay.

[He blinked at that, then narrowed his eyes in a brief glare. Then he glanced at Fluttershy and decided a change of expression would be best, giving Martin his best look of concern.

...which was expressed pretty much anywhere but in his eyes.]

That's good. Wouldn't have wanted you to fall on your head or anything.

[She gives Martin another little nuzzle.]

Oh, so brave...Well, if you're sure...

[He was brave, wasn't he?]

[Surely going to die if Fluttershy left him and Chris alone, but still worth it to get him back. He smiles again, this time more brightly.]

[He perked his ears up at her, tucking his paws in a little and smiling cheerily now.]

[Now if she could just put him down so he can make a swift exit before his brother decides to completely end him. ...Then again, maybe he's safer if he stays put.]
