Marriage for love is a such a modern concept. In the past, marriage was
recognised as a social contract. Unions were entered into for many
reasons: to obtain property, to unite families, to carry on a bloodline,
et cetera. Whatever the reason, congratulations, you're getting married!

STATION: You come from a royal, noble, or otherwise distinguished family who has chosen a suitable spouse for you.
FEUD: You are being married to put an end to the bitter enmity between your two families.
ECONOMICS: Your economic state and/or your station will improve through the union, though one of you may be marrying down.
EMPIRE: You and your spouse are merging your businesses and/or property to create something more influential or profitable.
TRIBUTE: You have been offered as a gift or appeasement, alternately you're the spoils of war.

( the kingdom of corona had much to celebrate when their 'lost' princess had been found by none other than a sarcastic mercenary who found out the hard way that even petite women had their own weapons [mainly a frying pan]. yet it wasn't enough that she had been found and her kingdom was most grateful to dante and his family oh noā
the father of the half-human, half-demon demanded a union ship between the two, a sign of good faith. to the people of corona, it just meant something else to celebrate and to rapunzel well...
it didn't really mean much to her beyond just getting closer to someone she's grown to like. she had no true concept of marriage and relationships, only that she yearned for it having read it in books during her time in the tower.
so when the wedding day came and everyone was there to celebrate, she wasn't as regal as a princess should be. oh no she was dipping her finger into the slice of cake, wiping it onto dante's nose in a playful manner. )
Bet you can't lick that off without a mirror.

[Somewhere in that castle among the princess' possessions had been a frying pan with an impression of his face left on its surface. Maybe it was his own fault for crawling through the window without knocking, dressed like a scoundrel, but the trip back had made up for that initial tumble into the dirt. His parents hounded him for spending a week traveling with the country's beloved, long-lost princess instead of going straight back when he could have sworn those detours were all her idea.
Still, it wasn't his parents that made him feel quite so annoyed during the ceremony. It was the change in who Rapunzel would be to him after that time they'd spent together. All the married folks he'd met in his short life who always had something mean to say about their beloved partners, so wouldn't getting married ruin all the fun they had?
In the middle of all that bitter thinking, his nose wrinkled. It was wet and he could picture the look on her face all too clearly. Cracking one eye open, Dante offered Rapunzel a pointed look and tried to not look at her as if she were just as precious as he thought she was. There were cracks in his meager defenses.]
Do you think I'm some kinda idiot? Course I can do it-- [Already, he was making a stupid face as he tried to lick the frosting off. It was only a matter of time until someone else saw him in that folly.]

after all, she had seen the tender and caring side of himā the one that cared about humanity and all of its flaws. that was the man she had grown to care for and find it easy to be herself with. it was for that reason that she had done this without fearā
worry that the wedding night would be ruin by such mischievous behavior. )

( as he tried to lick it off, she couldn't help but sit at his side and laugh a bit, covering her face as she licked off the rest of the frosting from her index finger. )

He waited a moment more, feeling a little lull in the crowd. Across the hall, someone raised their glass to show a toast to the king and queen and for a little while, attention was drawn away from them. He'd turned, his nose brushing hers lightly when he came close and leaving a tiny dollop of frosting behind. It was brief, just quick enough to last a moment and just long enough that he'd missed it when he settled back in his seat. He'd thought about it when they first kissed-- about just how good it was to skirt trouble with her. There was a whole crowd of guests who thought the altar had been their first.]

so it was in moments like these where he'd taunt and tease her that reminded her of just how much she really did find comfort in his presence. with her own nose now covered in cream, she simply laughed and tried licking it off herself without the use of her finger. her tongue stretched out and flicked up, swooping away small bits at the bottom of her nose before she turned to him. )
Well how about this? I lick your nose and you lick mine, only fair?

With the attention of the crowd raised on the other side of the hall, he felt alone with her in a way they hadn't been for the whole day. Getting to see her smile and make a goofy face, Dante sighed and listened to her proposal with a glimmer of excitement in his eyes--as if he were trying to not look too captivated by the most darling woman in the world.]
That sounds very fair. [So, he leaned in and lowered his voice just enough for her to hear when he was close--] Just no biting 'til tonight. Got it?

( years spent up trapped in that tower had left her naive to certain aspects of socialization and life, but she had always kept a fierce determination and headstrong attitude about things. there was nothing that could be done to diminish her bravery and faith in someone like dante who had proven to be good peopleā
proven to be someone she can trust despite outward appearances and his own past. so it was only natural that in this moment that was the pinnacle of intimacy, she would truly feel safe with him.
with a soft chuckle, she finally realized what he had been referring to and she leaned in to lick up whatever frosting she could from his nose before speaking. )
Oh I um....was hoping you could do that, you know if you wanted to...
( naive but she knew enough about romance and intimacy to figure out what exactly he was referring to. )

With a little peck of his lips, he'd stolen the frosting from the tip of her nose. In that moment, the attention of the crowd wavered from those giving toasts to guests milling about and so, they'd lost their veil. So, he'd left a chaste kiss on her cheek and dripped dark honey in her ear.]
