EVERYDAY DAEMON MEME

Everyone's seen the traditional daemon meme, based on the creatures from Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" In short, daemons are a literal manifestation of the human soul in the form of an animal. It's discussed in detail here but the long and the short of it is it's an extension of yourself that has it's own personality, that's a part of you - that's set out in the world.

The twist for this meme is, that part of yourself? You're putting it out in the world instead of just meeting people.

PART THE FIRST - give your character a daemon. A manifestation of their soul.
PART THE SECOND - read up all about the weird and the unusual "rules" for daemon behavior. (For instance how touching someone else's daemon is a big no-no.)
PART THE THIRD - Roll for a scenario.
PART THE FOURTH - profit profit profit.



1. Riding on the bus, riding on the bus. You and your daemon are riding on the most crowded bus ever. How do you justify the bears, lions, cats, dogs, birds, spiders, and snakes, and how none of you are supposed to be touching. None of you.

2. Grocery Shopping Time to go grocery shopping with someone telling you not to buy so much sugar or that DVD you want so much. Do you argue? And what do other people say?

3. Canon what Canon? You're in your canon with a daemon. Piloting a jaeger, sewing a dress, defying plums, playing the game of thrones with daemons in it. How's that going? What sort of modifications are you making?

4. Banality thy name is daemon.Preparing food for someone, yourself, enjoying an evening at home or on a date with someone else. You're just doin' it with a daemon in it.

5. BAR BAR BAR. ...Dude what bar wouldn't be made better with some guy with a pet monkey and he and the monkey are singing drunk songs. And you have a dog that talks and you can sing with the dog? I mean honestly.

6. Casual smut hookups. ...Sex with daemons in it. Around it. Witnessing it. If that's your thing. This is the basic smut tag. If someone can make it work more power to you.

7.Wildcard. Give yourself a daemon and do what you want man. Seriously.

[ It shouldn't come as a surprise that Kirk's daemon would be something that draws attention as he walks by. Or can set off at a run at any moment. Or sprawl around lazily when they are both feeling at ease.

Olivia ( "Liv" for sort and "Olive" for when he wants to annoy her) is often more quiet than Jim but can be just as annoying in some ways. Sniffing at people and things, getting on her hind legs and grabbing things off of tables or shelves, and even chasing down people if Jim feels so inclined to chase after anyone.

Both are friendly and sociable but while Jim can throw a punch, Olivia bites. Hard. JSYK. ]
