"Or you'd what? Put a pillow on it and sing me a lullaby?" Yes, he was digging himself a deeper hole, but Derek being all... concerned about him was weird.

Derek narrowed his eyes then turned, swinging his legs off of Stiles and pushing himself up off of the couch. "Go ahead and leave."

"I will." He gave him a flat look before pushing himself up off the couch. He couldn't deny that part of him was bummed this was how it turned out, especially given how excited he'd been when he'd come over, but... hey. He wasn't about to be pushed around by Derek, emissary or not.

He didn't turn around to give Stiles a second look, instead crossing the room to head toward his bed. There, he scooped up a book from beside it and dropped down to lean back against a pillow, flipping the cover open without saying anything else.

Fidgeting for half a second, Stiles steeled his resolve and turned to go. "See if I come over to show you cool things anymore."

"Just be careful on your way home." He looked up as he spoke, watching Stiles for a second and ignoring what he'd said.

The stubborn look softened as he met Derek's eyes. "I will." Then he turned to leave, heading for his jeep and home and a decent night's sleep. In his own bed.
